Xiroth felt a pang of jealousy. He followed Sern to a group at a table, and Teyval’s eyes got huge, and he handed his mate over to Byron and got up to clasp arms with Xiroth.
“Xiroth, I thought you and yours were dead.”
“Four of us are alive. We gravitate to the vampires for obvious reasons.”
“Ah, right. So if you want me specifically, what do you need to know about?”
“Polymorph mages. What can be done to extend their lifespans?”
Teyval blinked.“That’s a hard one.Is your mate one?If she is, a link with you will stop the degradation.”
“Really?”
“Of course. Our energy holds them, theirs holds us.The male polymorphs have a harder time convincing females to join with them.A female should have less trouble. So, is it your mate?”
“No.My mate is the chef.Jennika.We have just exchanged phone numbers, and I believe she will allow me to go to the physician visits with her. He’s a very strong baby.”Xiroth’s smile was slow.
Teyval blinked.“Jennika?The chef?That’s yours?”
“Yes.She has five weeks to go.”
“Wow.Myrtle is in her last four. She’s cranky, uncomfortable, and clinging to us constantly. But she’s a local elf.”
“Jennika is some kind of mage, but her power is being used now for the baby.I would like to have her drain it from me so I could determine what she is.”
Teyval chuckled.“You pixies are gluttons for punishment.”
Xiroth shrugged.“It’s what we were bred for, and if my son is one of ours, I need to be there.”
Teyval nodded.“What do you know about sex in late-stage pregnancy?”
He grinned.“I am about to research the hell out of it.”
“She won’t move the way she did at first.”
“And she doesn’t bend in the middle.”
Teyval laughed.“Okay.You are paying attention.”
“I have three tabs open on my phone.”
“The internet is a wonderful place.Do you have a home yet?”
“Yes, but Jennika lives with two other mages. There will need to be room for them. They are her lifeline.”
“Because she didn’t have you.”
“I believe it predates my involvement. Her friends helped her escape a plunge off a cliff.”He paused.“You think a link would help the polymorph?”
“It would. It would stabilize the extra power that she generates, just as it would for one of ours.Getting her to agree to it is another matter.”
“Ah, they are stubborn?”
“Their bodies don’t identify us as likely partners. With Myrtle, she was a light elf, so that was a huge clue.I think she would have told us to fuck off otherwise, and she was dying, so that tells you that power and stubborn go hand in hand with this generation.”
Xiroth tasted Teyval’s timeline, and he smiled.“Stubborn.Got it.”
Teyval blinked.“I forgot about that.”
