My heel dug into his foot and I jabbed my fist into his ribcage. He grunted but staggered back. I pushed him and darted for the panic button. After this, I would inform Hunter and Blaize to add more panic buttons to rooms or have someone inspect the rooms before letting girls go in here alone. No one was ever put in this situation, but if someone ever tried to be bold and stupid again, the girls would be safe.

I darted for the button, my fingers barely hitting the button before Dominic wrapped his fingers around my long hair and jerked me to the ground. I hit the ground with a painful thud, landing awkwardly on my arm.

Note to self—shave my head bald and wear wigs because this pretty mane of mine has caused nothing but problems when it comes to men trying to hurt me.

Dominic straddled my hips, his fist colliding with my face, sending excruciating pain exploding through my nose and back into my skull. My ears were ringing, and the room was spinning. Dom wrapped his hands around my neck, squeezing tightly. My lungs were begging for air as black dots danced across my vision. I could taste copper. It had nowhere to go but down my lungs, and it felt like I was choking. I refused to die like this.

I wasn’t a damsel.

With the way his body was positioned, my knee had a perfect shot to hit his groin. I jabbed my knee at an angle, hitting him in the balls. He cursed and let go of my throat. I took my chance and pushed him off of me, turning to my side and coughing. There were only a few moments of breathing I could do before Dominic would gather himself once more, and I finally pushed the panic button.

Stumbling to my feet, the room spun slightly, but I quickly gathered my composure. I could scream in agony and pass out later when my life wasn’t on the line.

“I’m not the same girl I was, asshole.” I spat on him, a mix of blood and saliva hitting his face. My foot connected with his stomach, then his ribs, and finally his face. “Caden is dead. You made sure of that. Meet Kadence, asshole.”

CHAPTER 56

BLAIZE

We broke every traffic law getting from Bellevue to Westhaven. Hunter said there was no sign of trouble, but she wasn’t answering. I was going to superglue her phone to her goddamn hip so she couldn’t ignore my calls. Maybe my rule about phones needed to be adjusted to customers only so my girls would have access to one during an emergency.

I called the club’s direct number and Jax answered this time. “Thank you for letting your desires win, how can I corrupt you tonight?”

“Jax, where the fuck is Hunter?” I hissed.

“Uhh, hold on boss, lemme find her for you.” I swear if Hunter was fucking Everly instead of watching the club, I would kill her. “Sorry boss, she’s dealing with an IT issue. She’s on her hands and knees with a sexy ass thong peeking out.”

“Where is Kadence?”

“She was at the bar drinking waiting for you to get home. She might be upstairs?”

“I’m almost there. See if she is in my office. If not, tell Mike to look for her, dammit.”

I disconnected as I pulled up to the club. The Jeep barely stopped before I put it in park and raced into my club. I foundHunter elbow-deep in wires and other shit, but I didn’t care about the lighting in the club. Kadence wasn’t at the bar or in the main area, and when Jax came downstairs, he saw me and shook his head.Where the fuck was my girl?

“Hunter, where the fuck is Kadence?” I snapped, which caused her to jump and hit her head.

She shimmied out of her confined space, rubbing her head. “Kadence is giving a private dance to a woman. What’s going on?” She walked to her iPad just as a panic button went off and Hunter’s face drained of color. “It’s room 37. That’s Kadence.”

I veered down the hallway with Hawke, Hunter, and a few of the guys behind me. My heart was pounding in my ears and a million scenarios raced through my mind. Kadence was strong, she could handle herself and deal with this asshole, but I didn’t know if she would panic, if he got the upper hand, or if he immobilized her. When I got to the door, it was locked and I could hear a struggle on the other side. I hit the door with my shoulder, but it didn’t budge. Why the fuck did I decide to use good wood instead of the cheap stuff for emergencies?

Hawke grabbed me before I went to hit the door again, pulling me back. I was two seconds away from punching him when Big Mike hit the door with a Halligan bar. It took three hits, but the door finally broke.

“Caden is dead. You made sure of that. Meet Kadence, asshole,” Kadence said as she kicked Dominic in the balls. “Shit. Took you long enough.” She looked at me and anger filled my veins. There was blood pouring from her nose and subtle bruising on her neck. She staggered towards me, and I grabbed her before she had the chance to fall. “I’m not a damsel.”

“No, you’re not, princess. You’re a goddamn warrior.” Hunter handed me a couple of paper towels so I could wipe her face. She winced slightly. “We’ll get Doc here to check you out.”

“I think my wrist is sprained, too.”

I nodded, glancing at her wrist and seeing it slightly swollen, but there was no discoloration. “Hawke, take this piece of shit to my office and strap him to a chair facing my desk. He’s mine to deal with.” He nodded, taking off his jacket and handing it to Kadence.

Kadence slipped it on and held it tightly against her chest. We watched as Hawke dragged him out of the room. I knew exactly what I was going to do to the bastard, but I needed to make sure Kadence was okay with it first.

“Kadence, do you trust me?”

“With my life.”

“Good. I’m going to let you get your revenge, but you have to listen to everything I tell you, okay?” She hesitated, but nodded. “Can you walk?”
