“I don’t want to burden you, Kadence.”

“I’m your partner, Blaize. I want to be the one you talk to instead of hiding behind a mask.”

She kissed my shoulder. “I’m scared someone is going to take you from me. I want to find this person, but I want to make sure you are taken care of, too.”

Her hand trailed up and down my belly, leaving soft circles on my skin. “I’m not defenseless. You might call me princess, but I am not a damsel. I’m not going down without a fight.”

“You shouldn’t have to fight in general.”

“Ehh, life would be boring without the added spice. You’ll find them, and then we can have a normal life.”

“The club is going to open again this weekend. Is there anything you want to do?” Blaize asked.

I lifted my face and kissed her jawline. “I don’t think so. I might watch some people play if you’re okay with it.”

“Of course. Is that something you want? For people to watch us?”

The thought was enticing, but I didn’t want it right now. “Uhm, maybe in the future. I just learned about kink and things. I like being watched, but I don’t know if I want a whole crowd focused on me.”

Blaize laughed. “You do remember I fingered you in the crowd before, right?”

“Oh yeah, I remember. One of the best nights of my life, but I wasn’t on stage being watched. The crowd wasn’t focused on me.”

CHAPTER 49

BLAIZE

Iwent to Hunter’s house, and a certain redhead opened the door. Everly gave me a distasteful look before Hunter stepped into the door frame. She kissed Everly and swatted her ass which made her scurry back to Hunter’s bedroom. It was odd seeing Everly here when Hunter never let anyone into her house, which told me their relationship was more than casual fucking and kink.

And Hunter was keeping it a secret.

“Well good morning to you, Blaize.”

I blinked at her. “You’re dating her?”

“Nope. Just casually fucking. What’s up?”

“I need you to see if you can find information on Elijah’s brother.”

“Have you done the basic move and looked at hospital records? If Elijah had a twin, they should have a record of it.”

“We tried. Cross can’t access the files.”

“Why didn’t you ask me?” she huffed. “I trained Cross, but damn, I'm the best.”

“Well, you were insulted when asked to hack in and get Kadence’s medical files, so I figured you didn’t want to do this.”

Hunter narrowed her eyes on me. “Rude. The only reason I didn’t do Kadence’s was because your intentions were horrible. If Elijah has a brother who is trying to kill Kadence, then hell yeah I’ll hack into the hospital’s system.”

“I’ll contact Hawke and see if he still has connections with that nurse in labor and delivery. Last I heard, she was insane and obsessed with him.”

Hunter laughed. “Have fun with that. Everly will leave in a little while, and I’ll see if I can get anything. If Hawke finds anything, let me know before I break the law.”

I left Hunter’s house and called Hawke. Fallon was still in the hospital recovering, but she was closer to being discharged now. I needed him to do his best and see if he could get information for me. It didn’t cross my mind to use him when his wife was still recovering, but now that Fallon was okay, I didn’t feel nearly as bad.

“It’s me. I’m headed to the hospital, meet me out front.”

Hawke met me out front when I parked my bike. He looked lighter now, and he actually shaved for the first time in weeks. “Everythin’ okay?”
