Drew leans his elbows on his knees, looking up at me. “Okay, so Tyler is going to keep having epic banter with the girl from the app who may or may not be who she says she is. Now can we go to the damn hockey game?”

My phone buzzes before I can answer, and I swear my heart kicks up at the thought that it could be my chaos girl coming back for more. When I look down at the screen, though, it’s almost as good as that.

Soph

We’re leaving Fireside now. I’m sure you’re still at home because you have a terminal inability to get places on time, so we’re leaving your tickets at will call. Meet you at the seats.

Me

First person there gets the snacks.

Soph

I got the snacks last time.

Me

Sucks to be the person who’s always early, doesn’t it?

Soph

If I didn’t like you so much, I would have buried you alive by now.

It is, but even the grossest grilled cheese is still the best.

And a Dr Pepper instead of ginger ale. I just finished a can of ginger ale, so I need something different.
