He sat down on the bed and brushed his knuckles across my forehead.

“You had a pretty serious concussion, my little pet,” he chided. For some reason, I blushed, and his smile widened. “You should be all better now though.”

“Me? You’re the one who was blown to pieces,” I countered, and he chuckled.

“No need to worry about me, my sweet. I’m good as new,” he replied. “Turns out I can survive explosions too.”

I glared at him suspiciously.

“You didn’t know that when you threw me to safety?” I gasped furiously.

He didn’t answer, but his guilty smirk told me everything. I wanted to be angry with him, but I was far too relieved to have come out of that entire ordeal with the two of us intact. I reached for his hand and curled my fingers within his.

“Thank you for coming to rescue me. I’m sorry that I left you and the city,” I murmured.

“I know. I don’t want you to worry about that. We will deal with that together later. Right now, I want you to tell me what you want for dinner,” he answered gently. My pussy pulsed at his promise, and I squeezed his hand a bit tighter.

“Lasagna,” I replied almost immediately.

“Cheese on cheese then?” he grinned, and I giggled.

“Yeah. Turns out that cheese, tomato sauce, and some more cheese is pretty damn tasty,” I said, and I couldn’t stop smiling.

This was perfect. Him and me. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

He pulled my hand gently and helped me to climb out of bed. He guided me out of the bedroom and led me to the couch, where he tucked me in with copious pillows and blankets. He turned on one of the older human films and took off into the attached kitchen.

I was thankful that he didn’t leave my sight. I watched him work, layering the pasta and cheese for a while. I pretended to watch the movie, but it gave me far more comfort to just observe him instead.

I still found it hard to believe he was still alive. He’d risked everything for me, even his own life and now he was here cooking me dinner in the kitchen while I relaxed on the couch. I didn’t know what I’d done to deserve a man like him, but for the first time, I was happy I’d been the one to pull the joker card.

Back then, I’d thought that was shit luck, but now I realized that it was maybe something like fate, that Talyn and I were supposed to come together like this.

He caught me watching him and pointed back to the movie. I turned my head, swallowing a laugh as I did so.

After he placed the lasagna in the oven, he joined me. He pulled me against him, and I pretended to pay attention. Thankfully, he didn’t ask me any questions about what happened because I was mainly thinking about riding his cocks later.

The oven dinged and he got back up. He swiftly plated two large pieces and carried them over to me once he was done. I ate every bit of that delicious meal, savoring his company along with every delectable mouthful. When I was done, I even thought about having a second plate, but there was always room for more later.

I was more concerned about what Talyn had in mind for me tonight. I snuggled closer to him, running my fingers along the flesh of his arm and he groaned softly behind me.

“How are you feeling, my sweet human?” he asked. He pressed his lips against the side of my head and my heart swelled. His arms tightened around me in a soothing embrace. His forearm pressed up lightly against my throat. I didn’t feel any fear because after everything we’d gone through together, I knew that he’d go to the ends of the earth for me and that meant something.

I turned my head, intertwining my fingers with his. I lifted the back of his knuckles to my lips and kissed them gently. He purred, the rolling vibration of his tongue pouring over me like music. I sighed happily before I even remembered that he’d asked me a question.

“I feel really good,” I replied, and his thumb traced up and down mine. I could tell he wanted to say more, so I stayed quiet.

“I need to tell you something, Raiza,” he murmured.

“What is it, Talyn?” I answered carefully.

“When you were safe in the medical bay, I returned to the underground. I brought several men with me. Not an army or anything close to that, just enough to deal with the group of men that hurt you,” he began. He paused for a moment, hugging me closer. Maybe he was checking to see if I was tensing up, but I didn’t.

“I hunted them, and I found them. I made sure every man that threatened you or placed a single finger on your head was dead,” he continued. His hands glided up and down my arms.

In the days before Talyn, I might have been angry by such news. Now, however, they’d not only tried to hurt me, but they’d caused Talyn terrible agony in their efforts to kill him. I could not forgive that.

“Good,” I murmured.
