“Forgive her. She’s a little advanced for her age.”

“She’s eight, right?” I asked.

“Yesss, 8 going on 30.”

“I can see that.” I smiled.

“Forgive me, come on in.” I followed her inside and she led us to the kitchen. She had a decent crib. Lil mama was sitting at the island, and I took a seat next to her.

“Do you like Amazon?” She asked me, and I barely ordered anything from there.

“Yes.”

“Do you have an account with them?” She asked, turning to me as she bit down on her pizza.

“I think so.”

“I have one, me and mommy. All you have to do is put your card in it, and it’s that easy.” She smiled, and I fell out again.

“Tahanii More! Stop that.” Forever chastised her.

“I’m sorry. We can talk when she’s not around,” Tahanii whispered.

“Ok,” I whispered back.

“Hanii. Eat your food,” Forever said to her.

“Are you hungry?” she asked me.

“I can eat, but you please sit down and eat with me. We have a lot to talk about when we have a private moment,” I told her. There was so much I needed to know, and her illness was at the top of my list. Looking at her and her daughter, knowing what I knew about her... That shit hurt my heart and pissed me off because they didn’t deserve what was happening to them. This little girl needed her mother.

I was sitting therewith my heart completely in my ass. Never, and I mean never would I have imagined Legacy Porter sitting in my living room drinking wine with me like this was normal. I dreamed of this happening, but that was just it. I thought it would stay in my dreams.

Tahanii was upstairs asleep; the house was quiet except for soft music playing through my surround sound, and what threw the both of us was that it started raining. It was such a surreal moment. Legacy sat next to me on the couch looking good and smelling even better. This didn’t even feel real.

“I know so much about you already,” he said, while sipping on his glass of wine.

“Honestly, I feel like I need all your letters in order so I can respond to them one by one.”

That made me smile.

“But I do have a question. How did you get my address?”

My stomach tightened. I looked down at my wine glass before laughing awkwardly.

“Uhhh…” Lord.

“There’s really no non-creepy way to explain this,” I admitted, already embarrassed.

“Try me.” I sighed deeply before biting the bullet, telling the truth.

“You left your wallet laying on your nightstand one day when I was cleaning your suite,” I said. “It was already open, and I noticed your picture on your driver’s license.”

He raised a brow but didn’t say anything, and that shit had me nervous because being under his gaze felt like he was digging through my soul.

“That’s actually why I took a picture of it. Not for your address, but I just… I wanted a picture of you. One day I was sitting there staring at the picture, and somehow, I ended up writing you that first letter. Then I realized your address was visible, too. I know it sounds crazy. I’m really sorry. I know I violated your privacy, and I hate that I did that. I swear I never meant any harm by it.” Hearing me say it aloud and having to admit to it really was embarrassing.
