“How about some night entertainment? I am a god of love, after all.”

“I’ve provided you a wall to stare at and you’re already wanting more? We should rename you Torin the Greedy.”

“A good lay can go a long way.”

“Ah, I see… well, unless you want to wander out and find them yourself, hiring someone is illegal here.”

Torin stares at me like this is the most shocking thing that’s happened since he’s ventured into this world. Not the TV. Not the subway. Definitely not the cars.

The fact that I don’t have a sex worker on speed dial.

“You are a very handsome man. You will do.”

“I will not do.”

He looks at me with a raised eyebrow before waving to himself. I think it’s supposed to be an “I am very handsome, come ride my dick” move, but I’m struggling to see anything other than the fact that I’m going to sit on this couch until I sleep. And then I’m going to wake up in the morning, and this will all have been a big joke.

“I am offering you a chance to have sex with me.”

“Man, you know… I really wish I wanted to, but I don’t.”

Torin appears taken aback, possibly even offended. I’m sure he thought my clothes would explode off my body at his offer.“No one has ever turned down having sex with me. Everyone I’ve met has desired me.”

“Well, looks like I popped your rejection cherry,” I say with a smile, picking up a book.

And so the god of war and love sits his rejected ass down on my couch and proceeds to stare at a wall.

Kit oozes off my shoulder and falls into a slumber as I sigh and shut the book.

Chapter Four

Torin

I’ve grown rather bored of wall staring, so I get up and wander the room. This realm is quite peculiar, and I still haven’t determined what the hell is going on. Or why they’ve placed me with this man.

When I’d woken up after coming to this realm, I’d found myself in a room surrounded by people who were impossible for me to understand, but they seemed like guards or possibly part of an army. They were interested in communicating with me and appeared respectful, and yet they placed me with this peasant.

Why?

What’s so special about him?

I’ve already tested his skills in battle against the hound-like creature where he proved quite useless and required me to save him.Buthe seems to be afraid of nothing. The creature was one thing, but when facing me, he’s never shown any sign of fear or apprehension. And while the female and other man who’d tried to communicate with me did not run in fear, it was clear that they were on edge around me.

And yet this man… I’ve never seen anyone care so little to be in my presence.

I stare at him as he sits on the couch, eyes closed.

They placed me in his care… a being they know nothing about… a being they don’t know if they can trust. I’ve declared to them that I am a god and they’ve tossed me into this miniature home with a man who is so bored sitting next to a god that he’s taking a nap?

It at least gives me a good opportunity to examine him. He’s a handsome man with reddish-blond hair that falls to the side in a messy way that looks good on him. He’s in good shape but not well defined like a warrior, reminding me more of someone who is athletic without trying too hard. His pale skin tells me that even though he claims he is a peasant, he doesn’t do much hard outdoor labor in the sun. He doesn’t have any weapons on him that I’ve noticed… but there’s something about him that they must trust. Instead of keeping me in some building surrounded by their military, they placed me with this single man and expect him to watch over me.

But if he is that strong, then why is he merely a peasant living in this small room?

He opens his eyes that are an interesting blend of brown and green and looks over at me. “I’m headed to bed. You can sleep on the couch.”

“This is the couch?” I ask as I look down at the tiny two-person object we’re sitting on. Where he thinks I would fit on this thing, I’m uncertain.

He seems to size me up and determines the same thing with a scowl. “Fine. Just for tonight, you can have my bed.”
