I love you too.
I slide my phone into airplane mode but connect to the wifi immediately. I should still be able to get texts from him.
But what I really want to say to him isn’t something for texts. Nor was it something for all of his friends to witness last night. I love you was goingto have to cut it.
I can’t wait to be alone with him to tell him how desperately I missed him. How deeply I regretted leaving. How I’ll take whatever level of commitment he can give me because having him in my life in any capacity is better than not at all.
The logistics haven’t changed. In fact, Zara was a little pissed when I told her to cancel on Lennox because I was leaving town to spend the next few days with my hockey player boyfriend.
Tour rehearsals are ahead. Then the tour itself.
Harper leans over with her iPad open to a moodboard. "The groomsmen will be in this tan color."
"I’m sorry what?" She’s already planning our wedding?
"For my wedding in July. You agreed to play during the cocktail hour."
My chest deflates.
Because she wasn’t planning my wedding?
Maybe.
My head is not on straight right now. Marrying Duncan is so far off my radar. How could I make a commitment like that with all physical distance we’re facing?
"Right."
"And I don’t want you and Duncan to match so do you think you can find a navy suit?"
"I’m sure I can come up with something."
"Great. What’s your email? I’ll send you the order of events." Harper’s thumbs are poised over her keyboard.
"Isn’t your wedding seven months away?"
Her eyes slide to mine. "It’s cute you think Felix would wait until the last minute."
"Felix?"
"He is a party planner in addition to being captain of the team. Started with his buddy Austin’s engagement party. He’s thrown them for all of us since. He did Crosby and Laila’s shower too."
"And now he’s doing your wedding?"
"To be fair, Aiden’s mom is helping a lot but Felix is the project manager for sure."
The stoic captain, who is obviously deeply invested in his player’s lives, I’m dying to know more about him.
After sharing my email with her I ask. "Felix isn’t married is he?"
"No, he’s been perpetually single."
"And, a lot of the other guys are single?"
"Actually, except for some of the rookies, most of the veteran guys are coupled up. Emmett is single but I think he’s got a thing for Lydia."
"The girl who got me the pass for last night?"
