"Umm, maybe. I’ll have to check my schedule."
"No, you’ll make it work. You’re making me hide something from not just the man I love but my best friends. And worse, you’re hiding something from the man you love and to compensate me for the emotional toll of all this you’re going to play during my cocktail hour."
"I’ll make it work." I am slightly afraid of what would happen if I didn’t.
"Good." She adjusts her purse strap on her shoulder. "By the way, Meek Car deserves to feel like he’s about to sneeze for the rest of his life for cheating on you."
A laugh barks out of me. "Yeah, that seems fair."
"I’ll keep your secrets Rhys Reid, but just take care of him yeah?"
"I will." I promise.

Crosbywentthroughhispost-game routine in record time. I could tell by how hard he was clutching his phone, his speed had something to do with Laila.
Does it hurt that he’s not confiding in me?
Yeah.
But it’s not what has put me in a sour ass mood after opening our season at home with a win.
Well not the only thing. I’m pouting because he has someone waiting for him in the hallway and I don’t.
It has become harder and harder to push Rhys from my mind.
He’d love that sentence.
Harder.
See! I’m always thinking about him.
When I’m at practice I look up to The Corner where families hang out and I wait to catch a glimpse of his green eyes watching me from the window.
When guys were calling home on the bus after our away game last weekend, I wanted to hear his voice.
And tonight, I was desperate to see him in my jersey. I kept looking up at the suite I got him right next to the family suite. I saw the girls, I watched them move around between the seats and the room. And every time I tried to find him in the suite to the right, I couldn’t see him.
I deflated a little with each failed attempt.
"You good Pay Day?" Felix asks me as he walks past in his towel.
"Yeah, good Cap." My words fall flat.
"Crosby got out of here quickly tonight." He observes.
"Yeah," I shrug. "Laila."
Felix just nods and I can feel his gaze boring into me.
"You two had a great game."
"Yeah, we’re a good team."
