“I’m there!”

He grips my hips and holds me off him. “Are you ready?”

“For what?” I ask but nod.

He yanks me down, right onto his knot. The spines slip out, sinking into my flesh. It’s pain, but it hurts so good. I throw my head back and scream while he sinks his teeth into my chest.

“Harder, more, please, Reed. More.”

He ruts up into me, growling and worrying the skin in his mouth. Another spine, this one larger and thicker, presses into me. It comes straight out of the tip of his cock and stabs into my flesh, locking us so we can’t move.

All around me, our song screams, but then it just reaches a point, and it blends. Our scents blend. Our hearts start thumping at the same time.

I can feel him, and I can see myself through his eyes.

The bond flares to life, adding another intricate layer of connection. Then the others flare awake, too, like stars blinking into the night sky.

I can feel how much they care. How much they love me. I can see their souls.

Our songs become one song. I feel something growing inside me, and I open my mouth to sing.

Reed kisses my throat while I struggle with my emotions.

“I’m like you now.”

“You’ve always been like us,” Reed murmurs. “We just couldn’t see it. But we do now.”

I collapse on his chest, curling my arms around his neck.

“My Sirens.”

“My monster,” Reed whispers back and curls his arms around me. The shiver join us, legs and arms twisting together.

“I’m free.”

“Yes,” Reed whispers. “We are free. Finally.”

Chapter 48

Mei

Epilogue

Puppy launches at Kit, and the two go rolling across the lawn, chased by Becky’s dog, Song, and their black cat, Pitch. I can’t see, but in my mind, I can occasionally get flashes of Kit’s magic.

Becky moves to stand beside me and nudges me. She’s wearing a dress that makes the softest rustle. It’s really pretty, but it also alerts me to when she’s approaching. I think she did it deliberately, which is very kind of her. I don’t jump at her proximity or try to attack her. Instead, that scent that is uniquely hers is familiar and welcome. When she takes my arm, I hold onto hers.

We’re friends now and learning how to be family.

Stix is talking with Leaf about the merits of toilets vs shitting in the woods. So far, both of them are leaning towards shitting in the woods.

I listen to them with my mouth open for a long minute before I shake it off and decide I don’t want to hear. If they want to go out and practice, by all means, they can do it alone.

Diablos arrives with his normal dramatic flair of smoke and the stench of sulfur. Hartley says hello and goes straight to Wilder and Frost. My Sirens don’t trust Wilder or Frost yet, not entirely, but I think they will one day, and Hartley hasn’t quite decided to give my Sirens another go yet.

“I brought some new friends!” Diablos booms. “Please say hello to Pack-”

“Raz’s cock is huge.”
