Mark must feel the moment my brain returns to the reality we’re living in because he, too, slows our kiss and eventually breaks it.
The heat in his eyes could make a smart woman like me do very stupid things.
“I-I gotta get going….” I sputter regretfully.
“Can I see you again later?” Mark asks, slowly wiping his thumb over my swollen lips.
“I’ll let you know when I’m done with my calls,” I whisper, wishing I could give him a definitive answer.
“Okay, sweetheart, you do that.”
Pushing me back, he grips my shoulders and turns me toward my house.
“Go… Kick ass and conquer the world. I’ll be here waiting when you’re done!”
Raven:
Miss your face, Sloane. When are you coming home?
Lizzy:
But you don’t miss mine?
Lanie:
Or mine…? Man, I feel like chopped liver now! You can look in the mirror to see hers.
Raven:
Ha ha… very funny! I could walk down the street to see the two of you. Sloane, on the other hand, abandoned us all and is on the whole other side of the country.
Lizzy:
From what Cameron says, she’s kicking ass and finding show-stopping talent!
Lanie:
Do we expect any less from Sloane? (rolling eyes emoji)
Sloane:
Yeesh… some of us have to work year-round and don’t have summers off…. ANYWAYS… I found two amazing bands I’m trying to sign…. (head exploding emoji)
Lizzy:
If anyone can close those deals, it’s you. (dragon slayer sticker)
Raven:
Have your boys broken Dad yet? I haven’t heard from them today.
Sloane:
Ha ha… he’s fine… or at least he hasn’t said otherwise. (shrugging emoji)
Lizzy:
I ran into them long boarding this afternoon. They all look to be in one piece.
