Carson looked at Slade.“It’s cute that he thinks he’s in charge.”

“I know, right?”Slade’s rumbling laugh eased something inside him.

Maybe there was hope for them yet.

Chapter Seven

Tuesday, September 27, 2022

Reese woke to the sound of Brantley’sphone buzzing on the nightstand. Before he could elbow him and tell him to answer, Brantley was groggily muttering, “Hello.”

He couldn’t make out what the person on the other end of the line was saying; however, he could tell they were female, and he detected some excitement in their voice.

“Calm down, JJ,” Brantley said, his voice thick with sleep.

Maybe it wasn’t excitement.Perhaps it was panic. Was it time? Was she in labor?

The questions were enough to rouse him out of sleep, making it impossible to drift off again.

She was rambling on, too quickly for Reese to make out.Not that he cared to eavesdrop.Provided it didn’t mean he was expected to be out the door in ten seconds once Brantley disconnected.

“Let me talk to Baz,” Brantley rasped, his voice low.

Reese rolled to his back and propped his arm over his eyes, wishing for a few more minutes of sleep. It was a pipe dream at this point, but he wasn’t quite ready to get out of bed.

“Yes, I believe you.But I’d like to hear it from him.”

Smiling into the darkness, Reese listened until a deeper voice sounded on the phone.

“Is she really in labor?”

Reese dropped his arm and turned his head to stare at Brantley, waiting for the answer he wouldn’t be able to hear. The room was dark, but the light in the hallway—the one they kept on for Tesha—provided enough glow to see his silhouette.

“Well, that’s good to know.”

Since Brantley didn’t sound panicked, he figured they had time yet.Which gave Reese an idea.He wasn’t ready to get out of bed, but he definitely wouldn’t be going back to sleep, so there was only one thing left to do.

Moving slowly, he tugged the blankets off and scooted down the bed.

He felt Brantley shift.A second later, the bedside lamp came on.

Brantley’s eyes opened, following him as he said, “Did Dr.Tinder say when?”

Reese settled between Brantley’s legs, smiling when Brantley shifted to make room.He peered up to see the man watching, one arm tucked underneath his head, the other holding his phone to his ear.

“Is there anything we need to do for y’all?”Brantley asked.“Want us to stop by the house?Grab anything?”

While Brantley continued to watch him, Reese used the softest touch to tease Brantley’s cock until it was hard and thick. With their eyes locked, he leaned down and took him in his mouth.

Brantley’s soft gasp made him smile despite the cock stretching his lips.

“Yeah.Okay.We’ll … Sure, Baz.Keep us updated.”

Expecting Brantley to hang up, Reese began sucking him deeper, gently massaging his balls.

“Yeah … uh …fuck… No.Sorry.I was … Yeah.All right.I’ll wait for him to call, sure.Later.”

Reese pulled off Brantley’s cock and wrapped his fist around the thick shaft, stroking as he stared up the length of Brantley’s body.
