Stone moved, bucking his hips, forcing Nico backward. The move surprised him, but Nico knew what to do, drawing his legs back as Stone moved into position. He planted his hands on the back of Nico’s thighs, folding him in half before guiding himself home.

Stone fucked him. Hard. Fast. He didn’t relent, staring down at Nico the entire time, watching the way his eyes glazed as the pleasure intensified. It was everything he’d imagined it would be. Actually, no. It was more. So much more. He couldn’t explain it, but he felt a connection to this man.

“Fuck … oh, fuck … Stone!”

“Jerk yourself off,” Stone commanded.

Nico grabbed his cock, yanking on it as Stone pumped his hips, chasing the inevitable release.

“So tight.” Stone gasped for breath. “So hot.” He rammed in harder. “God, you’re fuckin’ perfect.”

“Fuckin’ perfect,” Stone said now, drifting out of the memory, but not before every fiber of his being went rock fucking hard.

He knew exactly what he needed to do next, so he grabbed his cell phone off the counter and pulled up his text message app. He added Nico and Stevie to the thread and typed up a message.

—Dinner at my house tonight. Both of you. Please.

Stone didn’t waste any time waiting for a response. If they declined, he would adjust his plan, but for now, he was going on the hope that they would agree. He grabbed his key and started for the door. Before he reached it, he did a U-turn and headed for the bathroom to brush his teeth.

It usually wouldn’t’ve mattered that he had tuna breath because his goal was to go to the grocery store. Only he had one stop to make first.

Stevie was standing on the back porchwaiting for Jäger to do his business when her cell phone chimed.

—Dinner at my house tonight. Both of you. Please.

She pretended she wasn’t overcome with relief by seeing the text from Stone.

Ever since he left, she’d been overanalyzing everything that happened last night. And again this morning. Wondering whether she would find out Stone had skipped town the way he did the first time they’d found themselves in this situation. It was easy to believe he would stay as long as he was there, but the moment he walked out, her doubts had returned.

Stevie wanted to believe he was committed, but it was difficult to think he was when she still wasn’t sure how she felt about it all. On one hand, she got giddy at the idea of seeing him, talking to him, kissing him. She’d never felt anything like what she felt for Stone. Not even with Nico. With him, her love had grown slowly, organically. With Stone, it had been instantaneous, and she found it difficult to believe that she was still in love with him after all this time. But it felt the same.

“Doesn’t mean it’s love,” she admonished.

The screen door opened behind her, putting an end to her self-recrimination.

Nico cleared his throat. “Hey, did you see the text from Stone?”

She took a deep breath and looked down at Jäger, who was swatting at a strand of dead grass. “Yeah.”

“Thoughts?”

Turning to face him, she cocked an eyebrow and aimed for casual. “I think I can handle dinner. What about you?”

Nico moved closer, coming to stand directly in front of her. Funny the difference a day could make. If he’d done that yesterday, she would’ve come up with a joke to make him laugh so she could pretend his proximity didn’t set her aflame. Today, she didn’t feel the need to hide it. Plus, she liked the way he was looking at her. The look was the same, but it felt different. More intense.

“I’m willin’ to give it a shot if you are.”

“Okay.” It was all she could think to say. She had a million questions, most pertaining to what the future held—if anything—for the three of them. She was terrified to voice those questions, though, worried she wouldn’t like the answers.

“You sure?”

She nodded.

His eyes implored her. It was obvious he wanted her to elaborate, but Stevie didn’t know what to say. She didn’t want to think this to death for fear it might screw it up. She figured her best option was to ride it out for as long as she could.

Nico reached up and cupped her neck, his hands warm against her skin. “You wanna talk about anything that happened last night?”
