Stone laughed. “Well, that’s what we’re gonna do. For now.”
Nico looked at her, then back at Stone. “Okay.”
“Unless you want me to whip out my dick and shove it in your mouth right now?”
Nico’s eyes flashed hot. Stevie’s breath caught in her throat.
“Didn’t think so.” Stone moved behind her. “Come here, baby.”
Stone took a couple of pillows and propped them behind him before he leaned back and pulled her between his legs. She relaxed against him, watching Nico as Stone wrapped his arms around her.
“Get comfy, Daugherty. You’ll get yours. I promise.”
It took about two hours before Nico lost that shocked look. Stone had flipped through the cable channels, watching bits and pieces of several movies, never settling on one. He’d also snuck down to the house and returned with tacos and soft drinks, which they’d devoured. He brought popcorn, too, and Jägermeister, which he’d stolen from his parents’ liquor cabinet. The single, unpopped bag of microwave popcorn sat in a bowl on top of the microwave in the corner in case they wanted it later, but they’d cracked open the liquor and took turns taking shots. It was the grossest thing Stevie had ever tasted, but after the first two shots, it went down smoothly and gave her the liquid courage she needed.
Stevie was once again sitting in front of Stone, her back to his chest as she reclined against him. Nico had finally joined them, propped with his back against the wall beside Stone. He was close enough that Stevie could touch his leg but she didn’t. At least, she hadn’t meant to. That was Stone’s doing.
His big hand covered hers, their fingers linking. The next thing she knew, he was moving her hand, sliding it over Nico’s rock-hard thigh. She watched the movement at first, then looked at Nico. He was doing the same, his hooded eyes pinned on the point where she was touching him.
“You two ever … do anything?” Stone asked.
Stevie tilted her head, trying to look at him, but she couldn’t in her position.
“No,” Nico answered.
“You ever want to?” His question was directed at Nico.
Nico didn’t answer.
“She’s the sexiest woman in Coyote Ridge, man,” Stone told him, his voice low and seductive, yet casual. Like he was making small talk. “Don’t tell me you never thought about it.”
Stone’s chin brushed her temple when he looked back at her. “It was all I could think about the first time I saw you.”
Her heart thumped hard in her chest.
“The first time I heard your voice, I knew it wouldn’t be the last.”
Again, his voice was low, with a hint of reverence. If she hadn’t already been in love with him, she would be now.
“Any guy in this town would give his left nut just for a few minutes of your time, baby.”
God, she loved it when he called her baby. It made her warm in naughty places.
Stone looked at Nico. “Tell me you don’t want her.”
“She’s my sister’s best friend.”
“Yeah. And?”
“And nothin’,” Nico grumbled, his gaze sliding to her briefly before dropping.
“Does he know you’ve had a crush on him for years?” Stone asked her.
Stevie felt her cheeks grow warm. She shook her head.
Stone chuckled. “He does now.”
She felt Nico’s eyes on her, but she couldn’t look at him, choosing instead to keep her gaze fixed on the television.
