Brantley grinned, meeting Reese’s gaze. “Not even a little.”

“You sure?”

He stepped closer to Reese, lowering his voice. “If we weren’t surrounded by half the town, I’d kiss you right now and prove there’s only one man I want.”

“Prove it anyway,” Reese said.

Brantley didn’t hesitate. He grabbed the back of Reese’s neck and pulled him in. Their mouths crashed, and Brantley feasted on him. He didn’t stop until he heard someone whistle.

“Feel better?” Brantley asked Reese, loving the way his eyes dilated when he was turned on.

“Not yet.” Reese took control, kissing him this time, and it was all Brantley could do not to stumble backward. At this rate, he was going to drag Reese into one of those storage rooms in the back if he wasn’t careful.

“As though anyone doubted that you two were meant to be together.”

The sound of Travis’s deep baritone had Brantley and Reese separating.

“Hey,” Brantley managed, grinning like an idiot as he wiped his mouth.

Travis glanced between them, shaking his head as a small smile formed. “You two should get a room.”

“We’ve got one,” Brantley told him. “And we intend to put it to good use in a little while.”

Reese cleared his throat. Or maybe he choked.

Brantley kept his eyes on Travis. “I was startin’ to think you wouldn’t make it.”

“Had to get the kids to bed,” Travis explained. “Mom and Pop came by to keep an eye on them so we could stop in for a bit.”

Brantley scanned Travis’s face, looking for any sign that the man was unhinged. If he was, he was doing a damn good job of masking it. Then again, this was Travis. Everyone knew he had a hair-trigger temper, but he could do cool and composed better than most, even when his blood pressure was skyrocketing.

“Gage mentioned y’all stopped by the resort on Monday,” Travis said, looking at Reese.

Reese looked at Brantley.

“We were just checkin’ in,” Brantley told Travis. “Makin’ sure you’re doin’ okay.”

Travis nodded, but he didn’t answer Brantley’s unasked question. The man was also really good at evasion techniques.

And then there they were, the three of them staring at each other until Travis finally said, “Well, I should make the rounds. Check in with a few people. Can’t stay long.”

“We’re glad you came. We’ll see you on Saturday, right?”

“Damn straight.” Travis smiled, and it was a genuine smile, the kind that reached his eyes. “Wouldn’t miss it.”

When Travis walked away, Brantley turned back to Reese. “Where were we?”

Reese grinned. “I don’t know about you, butIwas thinkin’ about all the ways I’m gonna take advantage of you tonight.”

Brantley laughed. “Have I ever told you that Jealous Reese is so fuckin’ hot?”

During the short ride back to thehouse, Carson sat in the back seat with Slade.

He did his best not to look at the man because he could tell Slade was none too happy that he was there. Then again, Slade was so drunk there was a possibility he didn’t even realize hewasthere.

From time to time, he felt Atticus’s gaze in the rearview mirror. He had no idea what the man was thinking, but he’d gone from laughing and enjoying the night to being tense and quiet.
