Realizing he was going to get nothing done until he made the call, he dialed Reilly’s number and prayed she would answer.

“What are you doing?” Reilly asked by way of greeting.

“I’m supposed to be in the shower,” Tate whispered, hoping the sound of the water running would drown out the sound of him talking on the phone. “What areyoudoing?”

“Brady thinks I’m in the shower.”

Tate laughed. Great minds and all that.

“I probably could’ve texted, but I wanted to hear your answer so I could tell if you’re lyin’.”

“My answer?” Reilly’s curiosity echoed in her voice. “About what?”

“Donovan asked me to move in with him.”

“What did you tell him?”

“Nothing.”

Reilly laughed, but it was raspy and low. Clearly she was trying to be quiet, too.

“He asked if it was too fast. I told him a little.”

“Is it?”

“No. But I didn’t wanthimto know that. What if he’s not really ready?”

Reilly giggled. “Seriously? You think D would’ve even brought it up if he wasn’t?”

She had a good point. Tate knew Donovan didn’t do anything because he felt pressured. And he certainly didn’t do anything he didn’t want to do.

“Do you think I should?”

Reilly answered with, “Do you love him?”

“Yes.” Saying it was as natural as breathing. Tate didn’t have to wonder or ponder. He loved Donovan and had for a long time.

“Do you see spending your life with him?”

“Yes.”

“Then why wait?”

“I don’t know.”

Reilly sighed. “If you have any doubts—”

“I don’t. None at all.”

“Then I say go for it, Tate. You can try to outline how it’s supposed to work and build a timeline that makes sense, but in the end, if it feels right to both of you, I don’t see why you would wait. I mean seriously.” Her voice pitched even lower. “Donovan’s not gettin’ any younger.”

Tate barked a laugh. “Neither is Brady.”

“I know. That’s why I told him I wanted the same thing when he said he wanted to marry me.”

Tate gasped, his breath lodged in his throat. He barely contained the squeal of excitement. “He asked you to marry him? Oh, sweetie—”

“He didn’t ask,” she cut in. “He said he wanted to, but he hasn’t actually asked.”
