“It was,” he agreed. “And the way I felt this morning was real.”
She smirked. “Before or after you realized I stole your car?”
Brady chuckled. “Both.”
Her voice lowered to a raspy whisper. “Are you gonna punish me, Mr. McCord?”
His cock twitched. “Most definitely.”
“Promise?”
He wanted to promise a lot of things, but Brady settled for kissing her. It started sweet but went nuclear within a second. He wasn’t sure where he found the willpower, but he managed to slow things down before he dragged her to the back room simply so he could bury himself inside her one more time.
“Is it real for you, Reilly?”
Her gaze searched his face. “I don’t know what that means.”
He held her hips. “Is it real enough for me to talk to your brother?”
Her eyebrows jumped. “You want to tell Donovan about us? Or you want to ask him for permission?”
Brady could’ve played the question game for half an hour, turning it around on her, but he decided to go with the truth.
“I want totellhim. I want to tell your whole family.”
“Really?” Her smile flashed merry and bright. “You’re not worried it’s too fast?”
“Are you?”
“Nope,” she said with a loud pop on the “p”.
“Then you’re okay with it?”
“What if Donovan gets mad?”
“You think he will?”
She tilted her head. “Just playin’ devil’s advocate.”
“He’ll get over it.”
“Will he?”
Brady wasn’t sure either, and yesterday, he’d been worried about it. But everything changed last night, and Reilly had become his only concern. He wasn’t lying. This was as real as it got for him, and now the only option was to tell Donovan and hope for the best. He figured if their friendship were as solid as he thought it was, Donovan would be happy for them. If not … well, if not, then Brady would deal with that.
“If you want the same thing I do,” Brady told her. “Then it won’t matter.”
He swore he saw tears in her eyes a second before she threw her arms around him. She didn’t answer, but he could feel her smile against his neck.
“I’ll take that as a yes.”
She nodded, her chin digging into his skin.
Another round of relief swept through him as he held her.
But the next words out of her mouth made him go stone still.
