“What?”

“You’re actin’ like you need to tell me somethin’. Did I forget to do somethin’ on the checklist?”

“Oh.” She flashed a smile. “Nope. The wedding’s right on track.”

That was a relief.

“For now,” she amended. “You’ve got the tux fitting comin’ up, and y’all need to get the marriage license. It’s good for eighty-nine days, and we’re well past that now, so whenever y’all can work it into the schedule.”

Reese realized she wouldn’t meet his eyes when she talked. He knew JJ well enough to know when she did that, she was hiding something.

“What else?” he prompted.

She took a bite, then looked up at him, her eyebrows lifting slowly. “Hmm?”

“What aren’t you tellin’ me?” Reese glanced back as Baz returned. “What’s goin’ on?”

JJ sighed.

“JJ.” Baz exhaled. “We talked about this.”

“I didn’t say nothin’,” she said around a mouthful of donut. “He’sProfessor Xingme.”

“Professor X?” Reese guessed, not sure he was deciphering her words correctly. “What the hell does that mean?”

“You’re reading her mind,” Baz explained. “You know.X-Men.”

Reese huffed, turning his attention back to JJ. She wouldn’t meet his gaze.

“Tell me,” he insisted.

“It can wait,” Baz told him. “There’s too much goin’ on right now.”

Reese narrowed his eyes and glanced between them. “What’s it have to do with?”

“Decker,” JJ blurted.

“What about him?”

Baz glared at JJ.

JJ glared at Baz.

A second later, she hopped up from her chair and waddled over to the electronic board they used when they were reviewing case files as a team. She quickly pulled up an image of Decker. She tapped on it, and several more pictures appeared, as well as file folder and Post-it note icons.

Reese watched as she clicked the Post-it that had the letters “A B” on it. A login prompt popped up, and she typed in a password.

As soon as the image appeared, Reese frowned, moving closer. “Is that…?”

“Allison Bogart,” JJ filled in. “Yeah.”

“Why do we have a picture of her?”

“That’s a damn good question,” JJ retorted, looking at Baz.

Reese skimmed the notes. “Who found this?”

“I assume Luca, but I don’t know for sure.”
