“I thought you loved me.”

He snorted. “You want the truth?”

Mentally, she shook her head, but outwardly, Bailey nodded.

“For one, I didn’t think you’d agree. And two, it was the only way I could get you to let me fuck you.”

Bailey gasped in shock.

Seth laughed. “Yeah. That’s right. I wanted to be the one to prove Bailey Weber’s not the good girl everyone thinks she is. It worked. But somewhere along the way, you got it in your head that I was gonna be your Prince Charming.”

“You’re certainly no Prince Charming,” she huffed.

His smile was vicious. “You’re right. And your pussy’s not made of gold like you think.”

She knew they were headed for the conversational gutter. Whenever they argued, Seth always degraded her.

With her phone in her hand, Bailey headed into the closet. “I’ll make it easier for you.” She yanked down an overnight bag and grabbed a few things, stuffing them inside.

“Where do you think you’re goin’?” Seth hollered. “Runnin’ to your mama’s house?”

Not caring that it would piss him off, Bailey pulled up her contacts on her phone, then tapped the screen. As had been the case earlier, the call to Rafe went straight to voicemail. She stared Seth right in the face when she said, “Hey, Rafe. I’d like to stay at the Double R tonight. Can you come get me?”

“You cheatin’ bitch,” Seth hissed. “You fucking whore. I should’ve known.”

“Thanks, Rafe,” she replied to no one. “I’ll see you in a few minutes.”

She tapped the screen to end the call and glared at Seth as she moved toward him. “For one, I’ve never cheated on you. And two, I’m not sleeping with anyone. I’m gonna stay at the B and B, where I’ll be movin’ in two weeks anyway.”

“Moving?” He rolled his eyes. “If only I could get so damn lucky.”

Although she didn’t expect anything less from Seth, Bailey couldn’t deny his comment stung. She’d moved in with him because she thought they had something. And she’d stuck it out because she thought they could make it work. She’d been so wrong.

“It’s true,” she said, keeping her tone from reflecting the pain lancing her insides. “Rex offered me the job. I start in two weeks. I’m movin’ into the manager’s apartment.”

“Thank Christ,” he chortled. “I didn’t want to kick your ass to the curb, but you don’t seem to take a hint. I don’t know how much more I could’ve taken.”

He could’ve slapped her and it wouldn’t have hurt as much. While she needed some space from him tonight, a little time to get her thoughts together, Bailey hadn’t expected Seth to dismiss her so easily.

She watched as he stormed out of the room. Honestly, she hadn’t expected their little argument to end so quickly. Once riled, Seth’s rampage generally lasted a good hour.

Since the walk into town was going to be brutal enough, she traded the overnight bag for a rolling suitcase, filling it with as much as she could, then stuffing a few more things in a bag she could sit on top of it. When she dragged her stuff into the living room, she found Seth sitting on the couch, his phone to his ear.

“Yeah, baby. I told you she’d be gone soon. Mm-hmm. She moved out tonight.” Seth’s eyes lifted to hers. “It’s been goin’ to the shitter for a while now. But the good thing is, we no longer have to keep our relationship a secret.”

Bailey’s ears heated, fury raging in her chest as she held Seth’s gaze. He was talking to a woman. He’d been cheating on her. The bastard!

“You’re a fucking asshole,” she snarled. “I can’t believe I wasted any of my time with you.”

“The feelings mutual, sweetheart,” he grumbled. “No, not you, babe. Yeah. She’s leavin’. Give me a few minutes, and I’ll come pick you up.”

What a jerk.

“Make sure you tell her she’ll probably have to walk home!” she yelled, hopefully loud enough the woman on the other end could hear.

“Ignore her,” Seth crooned. “She’s a mooch, and she whines about every damn thing.”

Seething but determined, Bailey spun away from him and headed for the door, dragging her bags with her.
