Ava took advantage, holding his head to her so she could keep him where she wanted him. Magnus didn’t resist, but he did try to roll over. She knew what he was doing—and why—but she refused to let him go.

“Make love to me, Magnus,” she breathed against his lips. “Just like this.”

He lifted his head so he could look at her. “You sure?”

“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”

Trusting that he wouldn’t try to flip their positions, she released his neck so she could shove his shorts down. His mouth descended on hers, and somehow they managed to rid him of the shorts without him ever moving off of her.

Ava sighed as he entered her slowly, his head lifting again so he could watch her as he did. She held his gaze, wanting him to see that this was exactly as it should be. Together—the three of them in any combination—was as it should be. She wasn’t scared of them.

“God,” she gasped, dropping her head back as he thrust his hips forward, burying his cock deep inside her. “Magnus.”

He continued to watch her, pumping his hips as he made love to her slowly. It was just as intense as all the other times, but maybe a little sweeter. She let the waves of pleasure roll through her, building her up slowly.

“I could stay like this forever,” he whispered, burying his face in her neck.

Ava cupped the back of his head, rolling her hips to meet each thrust. Movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. When she looked over, she saw Trey standing in the doorway. He had one shoulder propped on the doorjamb, his hooded gaze locked on them. She held out a hand to him, but he shook his head. She didn’t see worry or concern, only approval.

It was more than she’d ever expected, so she gave herself over to the moment, to Magnus.

She held on as he continued to drive her to the point of ecstasy, his big body covering her in a way that made her feel safe.

She could see Trey still standing at the door, so she ensured her voice was loud enough to carry to him, although she spoke to Magnus. “I’ve been blowing on those dandelions since I was a girl. And even more lately.”

Magnus sank into her and paused, lifting his head to meet her gaze.

“Since it worked so well with you … I had to amend my wish to include Trey.” She smiled up at him. “For both of us.”

He dropped his face to her neck again and groaned against her skin, his hips bucking harder. “Oh, Jesus, Ava.”

His pace increased, driving her right to the precipice. And when she came, she pressed her lips to his ear and whispered, “I love you, Magnus.”

After Trey had delivered pancakes to Billy, he should’ve stayed to help him with morning chores. It was what he’d intended to do, but only because he’d wanted to give Ava and Magnus some privacy. Having heard Magnus’s story about her tenth birthday, Trey realized how deeply the love between them was rooted, and he wanted them to express that to one another.

But something had lured him back to the house. And when he’d realized the bedroom door was open, he ventured that way. He hadn’t planned to watch them, but now that he was, he couldn’t regret it. Although he wasn’t on the bed with them, he was as much in this moment as they were. Trey couldn’t deny they were beautiful to watch. He never would’ve considered himself a voyeur, but now that he’d seen them, he was certain it wouldn’t be the last time.

Something changed in him the moment Ava looked over. He’d seen the invitation in her eyes and in the way she gestured him to join. He had resisted because he’d wanted them to have this moment.

Trey had realized then that those precious moments were what was in store for them if he would stop being so damn stubborn. They could share more times like this. Not only between Ava and Magnus but between him and Magnus and him and Ava. He wasn’t sharing Magnus’s body with Ava the way he’d convinced himself he would have to. They were sharing so much more between all three of them.

As Magnus and Ava climaxed together, Trey slipped down the hall and out of the house. He headed for the main office, Ava’s words echoing in his head.

I’ve been blowing on those dandelions since I was a girl. And even more lately. Since it worked so well with you … I had to amend my wish to include Trey. For both of us.

He wasn’t sure what it was about that statement or the sentiment behind it, but a switch had been flipped. As though someone had turned the light on, and he finally understood what it all meant.

Chapter Eighteen

Ava purposely waited until Magnus left tolead one of his SAR training classes and Trey was busy helping to rearrange the equipment shed before she snuck up to the front office to use the computer. Considering how Magnus was reacting to her requests to go back to her house, she didn’t think he’d be too happy with her if he learned she was doing research into Harrison’s past.

Granted, it wasn’t so much research as it was reviewing everything JJ had unearthed since she’d first started digging up dirt on the man back when the Off the Books Task Force began searching for her. At Ava’s request—which she’d done via text message after she acquired JJ’s number by snooping in Trey’s phone—JJ had sent Ava a link that allowed her to access all the files.

Now, whenever she got the chance, Ava read through those notes. And while it turned her stomach to learn the heinous truth about the man she had married, it somehow helped her to get closure. Well, maybe not closure, but it helped her to realize the man she’d married wasn’t who she’d thought he was.
