I shattered. My body shook; a pulsing heat of fire rocked my core. Powerful convulsions throbbed through me. All I could do was cling to the crate and bounce against Ragnar’s mouth. Every time I thought I was done, he flicked me with his tongue, and another wave went through me.

Eventually, I collapsed against his chest. His heart pounded against me in that unique, melodious beat. For a good long while, a cocoon of silence captured us both, the rain still drumming on the roof of the wagon.

“That was…enjoyable,” I said after a long while.

“You liked that? Hard to tell,” he said, his voice rumbling against me. “Hopefully you’re nice and relaxed now. Ready for sleep?”

I lifted my head and met his gaze. “Oh, it’s not time to sleep just yet.”

His lips curled up in the corners. “Is that so?”

I slid myself lower and rested my thighs on either side of his waist, my knees against the floor of the wagon. His cock throbbed between us, as if anticipating my next move. Slowly, I reached down and wrapped my fingers around the length of him.

He shuddered. “You…are a lot bolder in the bedroom than I anticipated. And I like it.”

Smiling, I dragged my hand down his shaft. “Do you like this, too?”

“Fuck yes,” he groaned.

“What about this?” I whispered, shifting my body so that the tip of him grazed my core. And then slowly I slid down. His length drove into me. I sucked in a gasp. There was a flicker of pain, yes, but it was nothing compared to how good he felt inside me. Howrightit felt.

“Lilia,” he murmured.

“Say my name again,” I whispered back, slowly shifting up and down him.

“You are perfect, Lilia. Everything about you…is so fucking perfect.”

He held on to my thighs as I gently rocked against him, the pleasure slowly overtaking the pain until it was nothing more than a distant memory. Every stroke heightened my need. My moans filled the space; the rhythm of our bodies shook the wagon.

As my pace against him quickened, Ragnar’s hands consumed every inch of me. He felt my thighs, my hips, my breasts. He swept his fingers along the curve of my back, across my belly, and down the length of my arms, like he wanted to memorize every inch of me.

The heat in his eyes and the appreciative bend of his lips filled me with an intoxicating burst of desire. I leaned forward and kissed him. His hands tangled in my hair. Our bodies collided together. The soft touches grew heady, and he thrust into me as I bounced faster and faster onto him.

A hunger I’d never known gripped me by the throat, and an all-consuming climax rushed through me once again. Tossing back my head, I cried out. His hips slammed into me. Stars painted my vision. Roaring, he shook against me, his powerful quakes matching mine.

Trembling, I lowered myself onto his chest again. He was still inside me, but I didn’t want to move. Neither did he. I drifted to sleep almost instantly. His touch was like a balm that I’d never known I needed. And I finally felt peace.

RAGNAR

“Perhaps we can stay here for the rest of the festival.” I brushed my lips across Lilia’s forehead, relishing the steady beat of her heart against my chest. We’d spent the entire night like this, with her warm body on top of mine. She’d dozed off from time to time, unlike me. I couldn’t stop thinking about how little time we had left. As soon as Yule was over, we would have to say goodbye, even if I didn’t earn enough coin to pay back my brother’s debt to the Mercenaries Guild. I had to return either way, or they’d come for me.

It was impossible to sleep knowing that.

Lilia pushed up onto her palms, beaming down at me. “I’m not sure the townspeople would forgive me for choosingthisover brewing their precious ale for them.”

Smiling, I slid a strand of hair behind the sharp curve of her ear, enjoying the shiver my touch conjured. “Then we’ll just have to continue this once we’re back in town.”

“And maybe somewhere a tad less…cramped.” She looked around at the crates, wincing when she spotted the one she’d broken when she’d been riding my face the night before. Apples dotted the floor around it. Thankfully, it hadn’t been the crates with the grains.

I palmed her backside, tugging her back to me. The wind and rain had quietened sometime in the night, but that didn’t mean we had to invite the sun inside just yet. There were a lot of ways I could make Lilia moan and sigh and tremble and…gods, she was beautiful.

“Mmm,” she said with a sly smile when she spotted how hard I was. “You don’t seem to be ready to go just yet.”

“I could spend days in here with you, and I would never get satiated.”

I sat up, revelling in her wide hips and luminous silver eyes. I’d never met anyone more beautiful. But more than that, I’d never met anyone who looked at the world the way she did. Someone who marvelled at the beauty of it with eyes and heart wide open.
