Chapter Thirty-Six
Tommy
It’s been a few days since we got home from the hospital. Everyone left for Bewdley yesterday apart from Jenson. He has taken over from the security I’d hired, bringing his own team of specialists from his old job. Even Jenson can’t wrap his head around how much of a conniving bastard Jake is.
There is only one sure way to catch him that we can think of, to use Maya as bait and that is out of the question. I would never deliberately put my girl in danger, even if it was our only shot at catching him.
Jenson is renting a place in the village a few minutes away for now rather than moving in with us. I did offer for him to stay with us, but he just smirked and said no.
I can’t say I blame him, Me and Maya are like rabbits, I can’t get enough of her. I think the Jake situation has really scared her this time andusing my body seems to help her forget and who am I to say no? My girl can use me anyway she wants.
The new group of security men aren’t as discrete as the ones I had employed but it doesn’t bother either of us. It feels good to know that they’re there and she’s protected but fuck me, they are loud. You can tell they’re old friends from the amount of boisterous laughter that comes from the outhouse. If I didn’t know Jenson and how much he respects this group of men, I wouldn’t have thought them to be any good.
Maya is sleeping as it’s still early and I didn’t want to disturb her. My morning run the past few weeks has been doing laps around my land, I don’t want to leave her alone, even with the security here. I just feel better knowing I’m in her space right now.
Although I love being here with her, the cabin fever is really starting to kick in. What I would give to jet away to one of my other properties abroad. Just for a break in the sun and away from all this madness, with Maya of course.
My dick twitches at the thought of Maya in a bikini, relaxing around the pool. Or naked, naked would be ten times better. Maybe I should book us somewhere as a surprise for her. I could even ask the gang if they wanted to come.
My mind is dreaming up scenarios when there’s a quiet knock at the door. Who would be at the door at this time in the morning? No onehas buzzed the gate so it must be one of the lads. Anxiety churns my stomach, they would only be here for one reason and I hope it’s a good one.
Swinging the door open, I’m greeted by Samuel and Nathan. “Hey boss, sorry to disturb you so early, are you free to talk?” Nathan asks, noticeably keeping his voice low. “Wanna come over to our place for a chat?”
“Yes, give me a sec.” I turn to grab my shoes and keys before following them out the door. “Is everything okay?” I ask.
Samuel gives Nathan a look before answering. “I think it’s best you wait until we’re inside.”
Well, shit. This can’t be good.
I walk into their new home, noting how tidy it is for a bunch of rowdy lads. Clothes placed in pristine piles by each bed. I’ve tried to make it feel as comfortable as possible for the four of them without building any new walls. It’s all open plan, bar the bathroom. There are four single beds, two deep couches, a kitchenette and pool table. The only new things I’ve added are the beds and supplies.
George and Freddie are already sat on the couch, I take the other one as Samuel and Nathan pull up a stool each. These men are fucking huge. I run each morning and work out but they are something else. I wouldn’t like to get on the wrong side of them.
“What’s going on?” I ask, getting straight tothe point.
Freddie, the one who seems to be in charge speaks first. “Approximately four hours ago, someone remotely tried to hack into the alarm system and security gate. We take shifts through the night, so someone is always here and alerted, as soon as the alert went out, we scanned the property whilst Samuel stopped the hacker from gaining entry.”
My hands clench into fists on my knees so hard I’m surprised steam isn’t coming out of my ears. That little fucker.
Freddie continues. “We’re under the impression that he isn’t working alone, one man couldn’t have managed to do all of that but also, after scouting the grounds and streets we realised there is no one around so they must be doing it from somewhere else.”
“I went in as far as I could but couldn’t find any IP address or traces to go off. Whoever it is knows exactly what they’re doing. They knew how to cover their tracks against the likes of us,” Samuel adds, looking visually annoyed. They don’t seem like the kind of people to get stumped this easily.
I’m dying to know what he meant by the likes of them, but every time I have tried to ask Jenson, he got really defensive over it so I let it drop.
“So basically someone has tried to break in but we don’t know who? And that you managed to stop them?” I ask.
“Basically, yeah,” Freddie shrugs. “We knowfor definite that they didn’t gain any access, but they’re a smart fucker. It wont be long until they try again.”
“What do we do for now?” I ask eagerly. I won’t let Maya be in any danger.
“For now, stay put. I don’t want to put you on house arrest but we kind of have too,” He shrugs as if that’s an easy undertaking. “Either that or get out of the country for a while.”
“Do you think it would be safe if we did that?” A trip to Spain is sounding better and better.
“Yeah, we would go with you, of course, but maybe just until we know more about the attacker and what they plan to do next, it would be safer for you not to be here, especially if you can loan a private jet so he can’t track your whereabouts as easily.”
“Sorry for not alerting you about this earlier mate, Jenson said to keep it quiet around Maya,” Nathan adds.
