Chapter Thirty-One
Tommy
Maya is like a ball of energy sat at the window, bouncing up and down excitedly as she waits for our friends to arrive.
“It’s only been four days since you last saw them, how can you be this excited?” I ask as I chuckle at her. Loving that she lets herself be free here, lets her true self out completely.
“I just can’t wait to go and have a night with all the people I love the most, not having to look over my shoulder in case a psycho might be lurking behind me,” she smiles sadly.
“The only man you need to worry about being behind you tonight, is me. Then on top of you, under you, down on you…” I trail off seeing the spark enter her eyes again.
“Tommy, what kind of woman do you think I am,” She gasps mockingly, raising a hand to her chest.
Mine.
I raise my eyebrow at her, making her laugh before she turns her attention back to the window.
These past few days have been bliss. We’ve had good food, relaxed around the pool, and fucked in almost every room of the house. I couldn’t ask for anything more and I couldn’t help but picture it, her living here with me, being able to live everyday like this if we so desired.
It will happen, one day soon if I have any say in it.
“They’re here!” she squeals, running to the front door as two cars pull into the driveway.
Max and Jenson step out of the first car, which Maya bypasses as she heads straight to the girls coming out of the next one. She flings herself at my sisters, then at Blair and Gracie.
“How was the drive?” I ask Jenson as I make my way over.
“Easy, didn’t take too long, being stuck with this dick head was hard work though, does he never shut up?” he signals to Max, jokingly.
“Piss off, it’s a pleasure to be in my company,” Max retorts, punching him in the side before growing serious. “Listen, I didn’t want to alert Maya, but there’s been a security breech at work. Someone is trying to access your personal data, the I.T team are certain they didn’t manage to break through, but just to be safe I’ve told them to inform security.”
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner? When did thishappen?” I demand. In all my years owning my company I’ve never had anything like this happen before.
“I got the call before I got in the car. I thought it might be best waiting until I got here in case she was close by, I didn’t want to worry her, you know?”
It was only yesterday that I had spoken to him about how much better she was doing. Being here, away from the shit show that’s happening at home has made it easy to forget that she’s still in danger. I’m still not happy with the fact I’m the last to know, but I do get why he did it.
“Yeah, thanks bro. So, all the team here know?” I ask.
“Yep, they’ll be trailing us tonight when we head out.”
“Don’t start worrying now, the arsehole won’t make it past me,” Jenson says menacingly. I believe him too, out of the three of us he’s the one I wouldn’t like to get on the wrong side of. I know how dark his past is after all.
“I’m going to show the girls the pool, they’ve been going on about it since I got here,” Maya smiles towards me, completely unaware of what’s happening.
I would stop at nothing to keep her this way. Content, happy, and blissfully ignorant.
I’m stood at the door with theboys, waiting for the girls to grace us with their presence. What the hell is taking them so long? They’ve been up there for the past two hours getting ready, my girl is already beautiful, she doesn’t need this long to put a bit of make up on.
“Will you stop fucking pacing. You’re giving me a headache,” Max complains. I flip him off in response.
Jenson is leaning against the wall, sipping on a glass of bourbon, looking like he doesn’t have a care in the world.
“Fuck it,” I say walking over to the decanter to pour myself one. The alcohol leaving that sweet burning sensation as I take a mouthful.
“You don’t need to be so on edge. You’ve got us, the security and Fallon. Do you think that sister of yours would let anyone near your girl?” Jenson asks as his eyebrow lifts smugly.
“You’ve got a point,” I gruff out.
