Her entire body visibly relaxes, her head dropping back onto the pillow as she stares at the ceiling. After a moment, tears pour down her face and her body starts to shake. I climb onto the bed beside her, careful not to move her too much. I rest one arm above her head and wrap the other around her.

“It’s over,” She states between sobs, as her chest rises and falls rapidly between breathes.

“Yes, it’s all over,” I say soothingly, stroking her arm up and down, her own hands coming up to grasp mine.

“I want to go home.”

“You can’t go back to the cabin for a while. The fucker ransacked the place and took all your furniture. I promise, I will fix it all up for you,” I confirm for her. She must have known that already from the fucked up shrine he had in that storage unit.

“No, I want to go home with you. Anywhere, as long as it’s with you,” She says, her watery eyes holding mine.

My heart lifts. “Thank fuck for that, because I don’t want to ever let you out of my sight again,” I smile. “As soon as you’re discharged, we can go wherever you want to go.”
