She freezes, finally lifting her head.
“Baby. What did I do?” I beg. “You need to talk to me. I can't prevent anything when I don’t know what I've done wrong.”
With her eyes closed, her shoulders rise as she inhales deeply, before slowly releasing her breath.
“It’s not you, it's me,” she says, and I can't help the little laugh that leaves me.
“That old line?” I quirk a brow.
That causes her lips to tilt up a little.
“I promise, I will tell you everything. I just… don’t think I can right now.”
I stride over to her, tucking one of her pesky, wild curls back from her face. God, every time I look at her, it’s as though she gets more beautiful.
“How about when I finish my shifts, we go somewhere? Me and you? And if you feel up to it, you can explain everything. If not, I’ll fuck yousenseless anyway.”
She barks out an unexpected laugh, making her snort as she does it.
“Bloody hell, Luke. You are like a ray of sunshine, do you know that?”
“I’ll be whatever you want me to be,” I smirk, leaning my face closer to hers.
But just before our lips touch, her phone pings, signalling that her driver is outside.
“I’m sorry, I…”
“I know. Come on, I’ll help you out.”
