“Me? Scared? Never,” I say playfully.

Lifting his seat, he brings out another helmet. But before I get the chance to take it from him, he scoops my wild hair behind my ears and glides it over my head.

“Do I want to know how many women have worn this?” I ask breathlessly, pointing to my head.

“Just the one,” he winks, smiling as though he knows a secret. “I bought it this afternoon.”

“Oh,” is all I can manage to say.

He went out of his way to buy me a helmet, before I'd even agreed to the date?

“Come on,” he says, lifting a leg over his bike and indicating behind him. “Wrap your arms around me.”

I do as I'm told. Again. Luke is making me feel as though I have a submission kink right now, and I don’t hate it. Just a few seconds pass before he starts the engine again, the growl of the bike vibrating between my legs. If I wasn’t turned on before, I definitely am now. He peels away from the curb faster than I anticipated, making me grip onto him even tighter. His chest rumbles with what I assume is laughter. The fucker.

I'm not a bucket list kind of girl, but I'venever been on a motorbike before and have always wanted to. The feeling of speed rushing past us as we zip through the streets of Bewdley is unexplainable. It’s kind of like being free. No one can see me, not really. Whenever you see someone pass by on a bike like this, you look, but forget all about them a second later. And the thought excites me. A genuine smile graces my face as I gently tip my head back to look up to the darkening sky.

We pass through the high street and go past the old road that leads to Maya's empty cabin. I have no clue where we're heading, but I'm so happy I couldn’t care less. If I weren’t so scared, I'd have my hands in the air to feel the wind passing through my fingers. But I'm not loving it that much to risk my life.

As if hearing my thoughts, he turns his head and shouts over his shoulder.

“Hold on tight.”

Then we’re on the open road, his hand gripping the throttle, and we’re flying.
