“Amara!” he called louder this time as he walked downstairs.

The house stayed silent.

His jaw tightened.

He checked the living room, the kitchen, even the hallway near the entrance, but there was no sign of her anywhere.

“Amara!”

Still nothing.

Elias let out a sharp breath through his nose before turning around and heading back upstairs with visible frustration written all over his face.

The moment he entered the bedroom again, he grabbed his phone from the bedside table and immediately called her number.

The phone rang.

And rang.

And rang.

But she never picked up.

His expression darkened more with every second until he finally pulled the phone away from his ear and stared at the screen with an irritated look.

Frustration surged through Elias as he stared at the unanswered call screen.

He let out a deep, irritated breath before tossing the phone onto the bed for a second and dragging a hand through his damp hair.

“Do you really think you can run away from me?” he muttered darkly under his breath.

His jaw tightened as his eyes hardened.

“Let me see how far you run,” he muttered darkly, his eyes fixed on her with dangerous intensity. “And let’s see how long that lasts before I drag you right back to me.”

With aggressive strides, he turned around and walked straight toward his closet. He yanked open the doors harder than necessary before quickly changing into his office clothes. Every movement carried irritation as he buttoned his shirt and fixed his cuffs impatiently.

Just as he grabbed his watch from the dresser, his phone suddenly rang again.

Elias immediately turned around and headed back toward the bed in hurried strides. For a split second, he genuinely thought Amara was calling him back.

But the moment he looked at the screen, his expression shifted.

Bianca.

Without wasting another second, he slid his thumb across the screen and lifted the phone to his ear.

“Yes, Bianca?” he said immediately.

There was silence on the other end for a moment before Bianca finally spoke.

Her voice sounded weak and disoriented.

“Elias…” she whispered softly. “I feel really tired. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I’ve been feeling unwell ever since I came back from the hospital yesterday after donating blood to Zoe.”

Elias straightened instantly.

The irritation from moments ago disappeared as his entire body became tense.
