Jump snorted a laugh. “The bastard almost got her.”

Both Foster and T looked horrified. She shrugged. “I was sitting outside in the back. I didn’t think Grayson would be bold enough to come after me here.”

“I’m glad you’re okay,” Foster said.

“Thank you. Jump saved me.”

Jump hugged her closer. “I don’t know what I would have done if he’d taken off with you.”

“Do they think he’ll get out?” T asked.

“Don’t know. But they have him on attempted kidnapping and car theft. So at least it’s two separate charges.”

Foster nodded. “Good.”

Her troubles with Grayson were possibly over. Now she just had to figure out what the rest of her life held. One thing she knew for certain. She wanted to spend her life with Jump.

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

Jump ended the call and turned to face Blakey. “That was Kevlar making sure we were fine.”

She leaned back against the counter. “It’s wonderful you have so many friends. I think they’re great, too.”

“Good, because they’ll be around for a while.”

He’d had at least twenty calls and so many texts he couldn’t keep track. In the back of his mind he knew he and Blakely needed to find a place to rent because Wave would be home soon, and he would have his sister with him.

Blakely pushed off the counter and moved to him. He wrapped his arms around her, thinking he really was one of the luckiest men in the world.

“I like this.”

He nodded. “I like it, too, and I’m falling in love with you.”

She blinked up at him a few times. “I never knew love really existed. With you it seems so easy to love you.”

“When we leave this place, you’re moving with me, right?”

She nodded. “I’d like that.”

“We need to find a place soon.”

“What about the house close to Willa’s place? Well, Pen lives there, too, so close to them? What do you think?”

“We should go look at it. If we like it, we can make an offer.”

“I’d like that.”

Jump’s phone rang, and he checked the caller ID, seeing it was the detective. He swiped to answer. “Hello, this is Jump.”

“Hello. So I have an update for you.”

“Let me put you on speaker.”

“Sure.”

Jump set the phone on the kitchen counter and tapped the screen, so it was on speaker. “Go ahead.”

“When we book someone, we collect their DNA just to have it. We ran Grayson’s DNA against what we have in the system. There was a young lady who was murdered recently. His DNA matched, so it’s doubtful he’ll ever be set free. The DA is looking to charge him for the murder first and see what kind of sentence he gets.”
