“What are you doing? You asked for a bite, girl. You ain’t about to eat up all my shit because you vacuumed yours up without chewing.”

“Are you telling me no?” I pouted, pretending to be offended.

Kyon smirked before passing his plate over to me. “You know I never tell you no, greedy ass.”

“Glad to know the rules haven’t changed.” I scooped a spoonful of rice and peas into my mouth. The gravy was life-changing, causing a moan to slip from my mouth.

“Naw, gimme my shit back. You’re over there moaning like you’re about to cum from some food. I should be the only one bringing those sounds out of you.” A deep frown covered his handsome face.

“You are absolutely ridiculous. Am I not supposed to enjoy the food?” I snickered, seeing the jealousy in his eyes.

“First, you let the sea nigga hug up on you, and now you’re moaning over some food. I can’t take you anywhere.” He scoffed playfully.

“Ky, please be so serious. Benny was cute and harmless. Besides, no one could ever take your place.” I winked while batting my eyelashes.

“Yeah, whatever. I’m keeping my eyes on you,” he warned. “On a serious note, I want to talk to you about your plans for when we get back home. I’m not expecting things to automatically go back to the way they were, but I do want to get an understanding of what we’re doing.”

I paused for a moment as I listened to what he was saying. Everything with us happened so quickly; I hadn’t even considered what our lives would look like when we got back home.

“What do you want to do?”

“I want you. My plan has always been for us to get married and have a family, and nothing has changed on my end. Of course, I realize things have changed, which is why I want to get clarity. I need to make sure we’re both on the same page and still want the same things,” Kyon expressed.

“We’re on the same page. I know we have some rebuilding to do, but it’s what I want. It’s what I’ve always wanted. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get us back on track.” Being vulnerable with Kyon came naturally to me because I knew my heart was safe with him.

He nodded his head and continued to eat his food while we sat under a clamshell tent. Once we were finished, Kyon led us to a stand where a man was selling fresh coconuts. We watched him cut the tops off with a large knife, then place a straw and one of those tiny umbrellas inside for decoration.

I had tried coconut water a few times, but it was no comparison to getting it straight from the source. Kyon and I walked around the island and talked about everything under the sun until it was time for us to get back on the ship. Today had been full of so many unforgettable memories, and I was happy to have gotten to experience them with him.

“Baby, what is all of this? How were you able to pull this off?”

We had just come back from the casino, and we were back in the room to get ready for dinner. My mouth dropped in total shock as I stepped into the room, where I noticed the balloons and rose petals decorating the place. We were in the middle of the ocean, so I couldn’t understand how he managed to pull something like this off.

“I keep telling you, money has its advantages. My manager helped me, along with a few others on the ship. I wanted to make your day special.”

The bed was filled with multiple gifts, including designer items. My eyes landed on the Pandora bag, and I knew it would be the first one I opened.

“We were together all day, and I never even saw you pull out your phone once,” I recalled.

“Yeah, I put my plan in motion the other day. There are a few luxury shops further out, so I gave China my black card and paid for someone to take her and Keonte to the mall. Of course, it cost me a Louis bag for her, but it was worth it.” Kyon beamed.

I stood there in utter surprise because I hadn’t expected any of it. The day had already been special, yet he managed to outdo himself.

“I can’t believe this. For some reason, I thought you might have forgotten my birthday. I wasn’t upset because we’ve been apart for so long.”

“Yeah, right. Whether it’s been three years or thirty, I could never forget the day the world was blessed with an angel. If you don’t realize anything else about me, understand that for you, I’ll make the impossible possible. Now, get dressed so I can put something on your stomach before I put something in it.” Kyon winked before disappearing into the bathroom to take a shower.

I sat on the bed next to the gifts and decided to open the Pandora bag. I always wanted a Pandora bracelet but had never bought one. There was a card in the bag, so I opened it first. I held my breath as I read the message inside.

Happy Birthday, my Angel.

There is no greater gift than you existing in this world. I missed a few birthdays, but I plan to make up for it. I’ll never miss another one as long as I have air in my lungs and a beating heart. To the woman who deserves everything, I pray that I made you feel as special as you are to me.

Love you forever and an eternity after,

Ky

I held the card in my hand as my tears fell. Kyon never missed a beat where I was concerned, and even after so much time had passed, nothing had changed. His love was overwhelming in the best way. I felt like I was drowning in it, but I had no desire to be saved. His love was raw, deep, and all-encompassing. It made me feel safe, protected, and cared for, even when I wasn’t sure if I deserved it.
