that be too forward?

Staring down into the crowd, it’s obvious it’s not. More than one couple is kissing and doing

other…stuff on the dance floor.

I use Abigail’s body as a shield as I watch the men work their way through the crowd. They’re a

head above most of the women, and they all move with a natural grace that anyone would envy. They

seem to command the space, and the women are drawn to them like bees to nectar. What’s it like

going through life having everyone want you? I honestly have no frame of reference, so I can’t

imagine it.

Zach’s in one of his suits again. Honestly, I never paid attention to men’s clothing before meeting

Zach. And now, all I can think about is how he looks all rumpled, tie askew, shirt unbuttoned, hair

wild. I want him to unravel for me every night.

My own private strip tease.

My cheeks heat imagining being alone with him, and I’m grateful for the low light. No one in here

knows I’m having dirty thoughts.

He’s moving through the crowd a lot like Cara did. Smiling, flirting, and acting like every woman

he talks to is special. I’ve seen this before, the night of the Gala, but tonight, it hits differently. All

those women coming onto him are nothing like me. The teased hair, the skimpy outfits. They look like

they belong here. They look like they belong with him.

I pinch my thigh, determined to shut down those thoughts. As much as I wish they weren’t,

Abigail’s words this evening seem to be stuck in my head.

This is lunacy.

I went from having no social life or connections to a boyfriend. But not just any regular Joe. No, I

had to pick a suit-wearing, art-collecting billionaire. The fact that he’s my boss barely registers in all

of that.

Maybe I’m a fool trying to ignore our differences. But as I watch the way Zach and his brothers

watch out for Jonas in the crowd, I think I’d rather soak up every last second of being with this caring

man.

Because he is caring. As I watch, the brothers seem to have a well-rehearsed system of getting

through the club. Zach’s in the front, flirting, paving the way. Jonas is right behind him in his gray t-

shirt and cream cardigan. Flanking Jonas on either side is Declan and Nick.
