I glanced over at my phone, seeing that there was motion detected in my driveway. A black, G- wagon was pulling into the driveway. I knew that car belonged to Dolo, so seeing that, I removed myself from the grip that Major had me in, and I took a step back.

I was a woman that lived with severe PTSD from losing loved ones, and I had very bad anxiety. You couldn’t just throw new information on me. You had to tell me when something was getting ready to happen because if not, I would freak out and think the worst. Seeing Dolo’s car pull into my driveway, had me quickly putting a call in to Riot, placing the phone by my ear, waiting for her to answer.

“Ma, I’m outside,” is how she greeted me.

“Okay, what happened? Is everything okay? I thought you were going to West Palm to meet Dolo’s family. That was quick,” I spit these things out quickly, heart racing, still not understanding why she just popped up.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved it when Riot came over because I felt like I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her, but I was only freaking out because I felt like bad news was coming.

“Nothing happened, ma. Damn. I hate it when you do that. You immediately freak out and start thinking the worst. I see you got your nigga’s car in the driveway. You want me to come backwhen he leaves or something?” she shot, asking me, making me roll my eyes at her. Sometimes, I really wanted to strangle her ass.

“Riot, when the fuck have I ever told you to come back when Major leaves? You know the code to the door. Key it in and just wait for me to come downstairs. I have to take a quick shower,” I firmly said to her before hanging up the phone.

I tossed the phone on the bed, putting my hand on my hip, as I looked at Major, who had his eyes on me, looking as if he was confused.

“You good?” he wanted to know.

“Yes. Riot’s getting ready to come inside. Something happened. That girl never pops up on me like this. Plus, she was supposed to be meeting Dolo’s family. I hope she didn’t go over there and do something crazy. I need to hop in the shower,” I let him know.

“Handle your business with Riot. Ima come back later,” he said, and I made a sad face, like I didn’t want him to leave.

“Major, you just got here. Why you trying to leave already?” I whined, looking at him as he shot me that award winning smile.

He stood up from the bed, and the only thing that I could see on him was that big dick that was standing tall.

“I don’t like to stick around while Riot is here because I don’t want to make her uncomfortable. As a man, I just can’t do that to her, you know? I know how that shit feels to have your mama move on. I been there. I had to go through that when my parents divorced, and I had to accept the new nigga that she was with, against my better judgement. Ima just leave for a couple of hours, head to the crib, handle some business, and I’ll slide back over later before you go out with your sisters,” he let me know.

That was typically how Riot’s and Major’s relationship was. If my daughter knew he was here, she wouldn’t come. If Major knew Riot was coming, he would leave.

“Alright,” was all I said, knowing that I needed to get a move on, so that I could shower, and head downstairs to see what Riot had going on.

I quickly walked into the bathroom, and I started the water. While it was warming up, I grabbed my shower cap, placing it on my head, and Major came inside the bathroom while I was doing that. He had his clothes in his hands. He sat them down on the counter, so that she could do a quick wash off. Before I stepped into the shower, I hugged him one last time, kissed him, let him know that I loved him, and I went ahead to the shower, where the water was scorching hot, just how I liked it.

I won’t lie, my shower was quicker than usual. Even though Riot made it seem like it wasn’t anything heavy that led her to my house, I knew that it was. I knew my daughter. Knowing this, I was thirsty to get around her, and see what was going on.

As soon as I finished up in the shower, I wrapped a towel around my body, and I went over to the sink, so that I could brush my teeth, and wash my face. I’ve already done both those things when I woke up this morning, but after the adult things that I just finished doing with Major, it was only right that I brushed my teeth again.

When I made it back to my bedroom, Major was gone, but Riot was in here. She was sitting by the window nook, just like she would always do whenever she came into my room. It was hard to really read her body language. She had that same nonchalant look in her eyes like she always would, so it was hard to tell the kind of mood that she was in.

“Did Major leave already?” was the first thing that I asked her.

“Yeah. I came up when he left,” she said, and I nodded my head.

“Okay. What happened? Why did you leave Dolo’s parents? I thought that you would be over there for a few hours. Do you likethem? Do they like you?” I wanted to know, removing the towel that I was wearing, so that I could apply lotion to my body, and throw on a pair of panties, and a bra.

“The cop that killed my dad, what all did you hear about him after that happened?” she fired at me, not answering any of the questions that I just asked her.

She kind of caught me off guard with her question, so I paused from adding the lotion to my body, so that I could stare at her, trying to follow her, and see where she was going with this.

“I mean, I didn’t keep up with him once they didn’t find him guilty of murdering Grim. I just know that his ass had retired and moved out of Miami because Grim’s people wanted him dead. I never heard anything else about him after that. Why? What happened?” I asked her, stepping into my underwear, and then I quickly placed my bra on as well.

“I saw him at Dolo’s parents’ house,” her confession caught me off guard.

I knew my daughter. Lord knows that I knew my fuckin daughter, and she was every bit of her father, and her brother. Knowing that, I quickly rushed over to her, and I stood in front of her.

“You killed him?” I whispered it, as if there was other people in the room with us, and I didn’t want them to hear what I just asked her.

“No! I actually didn’t. I wanted to. You know that I wanted to. I’m coming back for his ass though. That shit would have pointed back to me if I did it today, so I had to step down, and this shit is fuckin killing me. Can you imagine standing face to face with the nigga that killed your daddy, and there wasn’t shit that you could do about it in that moment? Ma, this man changed his entire identity. He lost a bunch of weight. He goes by Tom now. Changed his black hair to brown. Ma, he stays rightnext door to Dolo’s parents. Dolo’s dad is cool with him, and Dolo’s mom is cool with Tom’s wife. This shit is crazy to me,” I could hear the hurt in her voice as she explained it to me.
