Darcy had officially come to L.A. nearly three weeks ago, and in that time they’d existed in a very… hedonistic bubble.

And Juliet loved every fucking second of it.

Almost every night and most mornings, they were able to luxuriate in one another. Neither of them were in the middle of any marketing or promotional campaigns, no tours, nothing that demanded their time out of the house.

It hadn’t taken very long for Darcy to get her belongings unpacked; she didn’t have many physical possessions. Juliet had never made space in her closet for another person in her life, but she wanted to see Darcy’s clothing with hers. It lit up a very specific, primal part of her mind.

Plus, Darcy loved to steal her clothing, so it made sense, anyway.

They’d gone to the beach, to various restaurants, on several long walks.

They were seen out and about, a lot. They’d had pictures posted online, in tabloids. There was no speculation about anything other than friendship, which didn’t shock Juliet. People still believed she was “mourning” Robbie.

A part of her was almost… insulted. Whywasn’tthere any speculation?

No, she didn’t want to actually take any chances or get into any hot water with her morality clause. But – but a part of her was excited by the prospect.

She’d been nervous at first, but it quickly morphed into enjoyment. Shelikedbeing seen with Darcy, even if no one knew the truth right now. It gave her a thrill, filled her with an electricity that was addictive.

She wasn’t pretending. She might have to stop herself from touching Darcy when they were in public the way she wanted to touch her. But… she was done putting on an image.

And it was more freeing than she’d have ever anticipated.

Darcy scratched her nails down Juliet’s thighs, and –

And they both paused, hearing the doorbell.

Not even the buzzer from the gate, but the literal front doorbell. Which meant it had to be someone who had the gate code.

Baffled, Juliet snapped her head up, locking eyes with Darcy. Who lifted her eyebrows up at her, as she asked, “Are… we expecting anyone? Laura has the day off, right?”

“She does,” Juliet confirmed.

Shewantedto ignore it. But she couldn’t.

Not many people had access to her – their? – house. And unlike Darcy, shewasconcerned about safety.

Heaving a heavy groan, she slid her leg from where she’d had it over Darcy’s shoulder, then pushed herself up the bed to reach for her phone. She never really had any understanding of how far down she moved while Darcy was eating her out within an inch of her life.

Darcy pushed herself up onto her knees, her lips in an adorable frown, her hair messy from Juliet’s grip.

Juliet unlocked her phone to check the camera, but stared at Darcy. She lifted her leg and nudged Darcy’s shoulder with her foot, arching a teasing look down at her. “Youhave to be atthe label in less than two hours, Thief. I’ve already indulged you enough.”

“You’veindulgedme,” Darcy echoed, scoffing.

But her eyes glinted right up at Juliet. They both knew. And Darcy had come while eating Juliet out and grinding herself down against one of their vibrators ten minutes ago, because – to Juliet’s point and pleasure – Darcy fucking loved it.

“Mhmm,” she sighed back, loftily, tilting her head toward their ensuite. “You don’t even have much time for a shower.”

Darcy acquiesced with a sigh, sitting back. “Okay, I’ll shower. But who’s at the door?”

Right.

Juliet opened the camera app, her mouth falling open.

“It’s… my mom?” It wasn’t a question, but it felt like it should be. Because what the fuck was her mother doing here?

Her momnevershowed up unannounced. She’d barely ever showed up here, announced.
