Vince swallows.
“And next time you see Arbor, just walk on by. He doesn’t need to see or hear from you again.”
Vince doesn’t like to be told what to do, but he’s intimidated. That much is true. Still doesn’t stop him from being his vile self.
“But seriously, though, an alpha? With the way he smells? How can you even stand it?” Vince says, his words perplexed.
Before I can blink, Glenn snaps. His fist rocks back and slams into Vince’s jaw. Vince howls, his eyes wide, his body rocking back in shock.
“What the fuck?” His hand is cupping his face, his eyes watering slightly.
I just lean forward on the bench and watch it all play out.
I’m breathless. So fucking stunned. The rocky road ice cream cone I was eating sits limply in my hand, chocolate dripping down my wrist.
“You keep your shitty opinions to yourself,” Glenn says and then points at him. “And like I said, next time, walk on by. Arbor doesn’t need your foul, ugly words anywhere near him.”
Vince opens and closes his mouth and then takes a step back.
“And just so you know, asshole. I like his scent. I bathe in it. And it’s your fucking loss. Arbor is incredible.”
Vince cowers and slinks away, whimpering as he goes. It leaves me to blink up at Glenn. We formed a small crowd, but they all disperse when they realize nothing else is going to happen.
Glenn peers down at me, taking my uneaten ice cream cone and tossing it into an early grave.
Then he lifts me up to my feet and brings my fingers to his lips, licking away the ice cream that is dripping down my skin.
My breathing accelerates, my pupils dilate.
“Did you mean it?” I ask.
“Every fucking word.”
CHAPTER
FOURTEEN
GLENN
“You sure youwant to head up north with me?” Forest asks as he tosses his bag into the back of my truck. “You sure you don’t mind driving?”
I stare at my brother and sigh. “I’m here, aren’t I?”
Forest arches an eyebrow. “Yeah, well, just making sure. And like I said, I’ll pay for gas and food.”
“Sounds good. Let’s go. We have a long drive.”
My phone pings as I pull out of my driveway, and I see Arbor’s name pop up on the truck’s screen. I hesitate, unsure if I should respond right now. Not sure if Forest was about to open up or some shit.
But instead of spilling his secrets, he just arches an eyebrow at me.
“Go on. Text him back. You know how needy omegas get.”
I huff and grab my phone, seeing Arbor’s sweet text. He’s wishing me a good trip, saying he misses me already.
I miss him too, especially since we’ve been spending all our free time together recently.
It happened naturally. He followed me home when we got out of work the day after our run-in with Vince. I said nothing about him wandering into my place, stripping off his clothes, and sliding under my covers. So, I did the same to him the next evening, driving my truck into the city, following him up to his apartment, and fucking him against the door as soon as it shut.
