“I might have the answer,” Decker says.“I know a guy, and he’d be perfect.I was going to ask for him to be brought in as a prospect, but this might be the right time to see if he’s meant to be a Rider.”

“Undercover is dangerous, Deck,” Hawk responds, clearly unsure of the option put forward.

“This isn’t a kid. He’s experienced and isn’t new to this sort of thing,” Decker says.

“How do you know him?”Drifter asks.

“He saved my life, and it’s my turn to give him purpose and save his,” Decker says.

“Bring him in.I want to meet him,” Hawk tells him.“Time to make my call. For now, get these cars back to their owners.Motown, you’re with Tessa and Sasha at Tessa’s shop, with Tacitus.Roar is with Drifter and Flex on getting information on Bronson’s dealers.Shooter, you’re managing the shop today while Decker gets hold of his guy. We’ve got shit to do.Let’s get to it.”

Chapter10

The Pride Cometh

Tessa

My shop opens every morning at nine sharp, but today I was almost late, and I hate feeling rushed. It started when the bedroom door creaked open, and in my semisleepy state, I saw him come in, looking incredibly hot with his tight T-shirt molded to the contours of his abs, his biceps bulging. My eyes sprang open to admire the view, then immediately glanced at the alarm clock on the bedside table, causing me to shriek and tumble out of bed.And I do mean tumble! My legs were wrapped up in the sheets, and I was literally falling when Motown scooped me up and yanked the sheets off.

“Babe, are you trying to knock yourself out cold?”he teased, but I was in no mood to be teased when I had forty-five minutes to dress, fix my hair and makeup, pick up a bagel, and get to my store.

“I’m late. Why didn’t you wake me?”I scolded, trying to wriggle out of his arms.

“Kiss me, Tess,” he answered with a grin.

“I’m late.”

“You’re going to be later if I don’t get my kiss, because all this wiggling is making me hard,” he said.God help me, but those words made me want to forget the shop altogether and climb back into bed with my man.

“This is no time to be sexy and hot,” I shot back.

“Okay, we’ll save the good stuff for later. But no matter what, Tessa, we start the day off right. So kiss me.”

I can’t fight that logic, so I kissed him.And he kissed me back, and it was sublime. He then dropped me to my feet, lightly swatted my backside, and told me to go get ready. When I came out of the bathroom, he led me back downstairs, grabbed a paper bag and two travel mugs, put me in a Range Rover with Lee in the backseat, and drove off.

Since then, I’ve found out that Lee is no longer called Lee but Tacitus. He and Declan, a.k.a.Roar, were made full members earlier this morning.I also found out that Drifter is dropping Sasha off to spend time with me today, and Motown and Tacitus are hanging out with us.

Motown helps me stock shelves, but then disappears in the back to give me and Sasha time together.Tacitus is patrolling the front of the store and watching for trouble.I feel better knowing that Motown, Tacitus, and Sasha are with me, but it doesn’t relieve my worry about what else Bronson might have up his sleeve.

“You’re going to have frown lines if you keep thinking about whatever it is that you’re thinking about,” Sasha says with a smile.

“It’s scary. How did this get so complicated?”

“Think of it this way: If Motown hadn’t stepped in, the situation would have been much worse,” she replies.

“This isn’t about Motown.I mean, why did Bronson choose me?The entire club is in trouble because of him.”

“Bronson had it in for the club from the start. This problem has been brewing for a long time.I think it was sheer dumb luck that it was your shop he chose to use as a hub for his drug activities.Roar is really good at reading people and knew right off the bat that those cops had come for the wrong reasons. As silly as it sounds, it’s not exactly about you. This is about a man who wants power and was using you to prove he can do whatever he wants,” Sasha explains.

“He didn’t get what he wanted.”

“True, and now he’s becoming more aggressive because he doesn’t like to look like a fool.”

“This isn’t making me feel better,” I admit, crossing my arms.“Maybe I can close up the Cozy Corner for now.”

“That’s not going to stop Bronson. He’ll continue to pick away at innocent people and their livelihoods unless he’s stopped,” Motown says, walking over to me.“He knew the minute he started that fire, he was starting a war.The Redemption Riders never walk away from a fight.Hawk tried reasoning with him, and Bronson crossed the line.”

“What if you or any of the guys get hurt?”
