“Well, now it looks like you’re about to be engaged to a man. Congrats. Wanna hit this run with me?”

My control freak is going to lose his fucking mind over the engagement part of the plan, but hey, the opportunity is presenting itself, and as Sasha said, you miss one hundred percent of the shots you don’t take.

“Let’s do it.”

Once I get down this mountain, I have a ring to buy, and enough cash in my pocket to do it with.

Chapter 25

Damon

When Liam gets back to the house a few hours later, he strips his jacket off in the front hallway, and I can immediately tell he’s drenched in sweat.

My dick notices, too.

Closing my laptop, I stride over to him with my hands in my pockets, still trying to relax into this new part of our relationship, but still wary as well.

The old saying,If it’s too good to be true…pops into my brain.

“How was it out there?” I ask.

“Oh man, it was so great. And guess who I ran into?”

Jealousy flares in my gut, and if I don’t get a grip on it soon, I’m going to turn green and stay that way permanently.

“Who?”

“Vox!” he exclaims. “He helped me…” he pauses like he almost said something he shouldn’t have, “down the mountain,” he finishes, causing me to narrow my eyes.

“That’s not what you were going to say.” I call him out because the secret about the job at Bluewater is the last one I want between us. Nothing but honesty from here on out.

Liam smiles and pulls me against his sweaty T-shirt.

“You’re right. It’s not. But I want it to be a surprise, and I almost ruined it,” he says. “Also, you’re busy Saturday night from six-thirty until we leave for the airport on Sunday, so don’t make plans.”

This makes me laugh. “Li, I’m on vacation withyouand literally know no one else here. What plans would I make?”

He seems to think about this for a minute and then finally shrugs. “Dunno, but no work or anything, either.”

I hold my hands up in mock surrender. “Got it. Nothing on the calendar except you.”I already accomplished everything I needed to.

His eyes flash with lust, and he closes the gap between us.

“You know my favorite thing about dating you?” he asks, still advancing. I know he’s going to take this somewhere sexual, which I amallin favor of, but my brain won’t let go of what he just said.

“Is that what we’re doing?” I ask. “Dating?”

Liam backs me against the foyer wall, still in his ski boots. “Of course, it is. If you think for one fucking second that you’re gonna blow your load all over me andnotcall me your boyfriend, you need to think again.”

Jesus Christ, nothing could have prepared me for this side of Liam.

“Li, I want this. I want this so fucking much. But what are we doing? We’re moving a million miles an hour, and we haven’t stopped to think through what happens if this doesn’t work.”

“How could thisnotwork?” The sincere confusion in his voice tears my heart to shreds. “I mean, I never considered this an option until now, but look back at our lives, D. You’ve always been it for me. Now, we just get to fuck and stuff, too. Which, honestly, is pretty cool, because you already knew what you were getting, so there won’t be any big letdown because my junk’s notbig enough. We just get to skip the awkward phase and start enjoying it.”

I stare at him, mouth agape.

“I don’t even know where to start. Wait,” I say, quickly correcting myself. “Yes, I do. First of all, we both know your cock isnotsmall, and to even label it asaverageis a stretch. Second, how the hell are you just so on board with this?”
