“No! Jesus. Credit me with some intelligence that I wouldn’t bring that up with her boyfriend.” He folds his arms across his chest and pouts.
“Okay, then. Crisis averted.”
He rolls his eyes. “If you say so, He-Man. Girls just… I dunno. They don’t see me.”
“That’s another lie. They do. You’re just busy doing something else so you don’t notice.”
“Seriously?”
“Sure. The next time I can drag Denny to a party, come with us and we’ll help you.”
“I don’t…”
When he falls quiet again, I arch a brow at him. “You don’t what, Callan?”
“I like who I like, you know? I don’t just wantanyone. I wish I did.”
“Okay, so who’s your someone?” When he fidgets on the seat, I sigh. “How am I supposed to help, Callan, if I don’t know who your person is?”
“I thought you’d laugh at me.”
“Nah. I’m a jerk but I’m not that big of a jerk.”
“Well, doesn’t that make me feel better about myself.”
I smirk. “Be grateful for the free advice.”
“True.” He clears his throat then mumbles a name.
“Lington?” I frown. “Who the hell’s that?”
“Luxx.”
“Who?” I demand when he whispers the name again.
“Oh, for fuck’s sake! Lex!”
Huh. “‘Dopie’s diner’ Lex?”
“Yeah.”
“Have you talked to her?”
“Yes.”
I narrow my eyes. “Outside of placing an order, Callan.”
He harrumphs.
“I’ll take that as a no?”
“I’ve said hello and she talked to me about movies.”
“Wow, that’s you. The world’s biggest flirt!”
“This is you not making fun of me, huh?”
“Ah, shit.” I slouch in the seat. “Sorry, Callan.”
