Maybe we can still be friends

BE MORE THAN FRIENDS

BE SEXY FRIENDS

What do I say?

When I see him, I mean

Say something SEXY

Like what?

Like…

Hey, Mr. Lord

I’ve missed you

OH, MY GOD, CARA

That’s not sexy!

Imagine it in a sexy voice

You give terrible advice

A sexy growl

I’m going to go now

I missed you babyyyyy

Say it like that

All sexy

Mike says “Don’t say baby”

Sophie?

Fine, you’ve gone. Off with your new famous friend.

Whatever. I don’t care.

OMG DON’T FORGET TO KISS HIM AT MIDNIGHT

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

I skip the dinner. We arrive much too late anyway and, while it’s important that Cordelia goes to see everyone to salvage what’s left of the evening, I’d rather not face the family for the first time during such an intimate event. I don’t want Lord and Lady Meade to feel awkward in front of their guests about everything that’s happened, and I still feel terrified at the idea of seeing Tom. It’s best for everyone if I have a quiet night hiding in my bedroom.

On the drive, Cordelia and I talked about how we were going to handle the Emily/Sophie situation and she put forward the solution of only telling those who needed to know. She wasn’t particularly embarrassed about explaining my job to certain people. Hopefully, she said, most of the guests won’t remember my name.

“We can introduce you again as Sophie and they’ll feel embarrassed that they thought your name was Emily.”

“I suppose most of them know me simply as the bridesmaid/escort.”

“Quite a cool alter ego, if you ask me. Very mysterious. You’re welcome.”
