It must have been my hands on her, for her breathing changed instantly and she was trembling all over again, building toward the end.

“God, please,” she gasped, “don’t stop.”

Nothing in the world could make me, but I wanted to hear her say it. I needed her to know how much satisfaction it gave me. How much I liked hearing it. “Why?”

She swallowed hard. “I’m going to . . .”

“Tell me.”

Her eyes fell closed under my power, her face full of pure concentration. “I’m going to come.”

She was about to take me there, too. My hand crept down from her hip. She didn’t need my guidance any longer. My fingertips caressed her trembling belly, then down until I was touching her swollen clit, rubbing in time with my hurried thrusts.

“My hands are on you,” I said. “I’m so fucking hard inside you. I don’t want you to be quiet.”

She jerked at my words and cried out when her orgasm struck her, letting out a moan that was drenched in pleasure. Inside, her muscles clenched rhythmically at me, each pulsegiving me an extra hit of satisfaction. There was nothing else in the world like making a woman come, and it was even better when it was her.

Kara was quaking in my arms when I drove into her a final time and heat blasted through my body, surging out along my limbs. A groan ripped from my lungs as sound faded from my ears. My orgasm was fucking intense. It was euphoria, ecstasy, and it rolled on and on andonin waves, threatening to never stop.

But eventually the pleasure began to recede.

When I released her, we collapsed forward on the bed, aftershocks from her orgasm causing her to continue to shudder. When her breathing slowed, I rose up on an elbow to kiss her?—

I froze. “Did I hurt you?”

Her eyebrows tugged together. “No.”

“Then what’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” She looked even more confused. “Why?”

“You can’t tell? You’re crying.”

Her hand flew up and confirmed what I’d just said. She wiped at the tears quickly as if horrified.

“I’m sorry. I don’t cry. Don’t...” She took a deep breath and that seemed to even her out. “It’s a physical reaction. Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean anything.”

I didn’t believe her, but I could pretend like she did.

KARA

While Shawn wasin the bathroom, I slid off my shoes, climbed under the sheets, and pulled them tight around me. He’d shaken me to my core, and I was still trembling to prove it. What had we done? What had he done to me?

My heart refused to calm down, fluttering in my chest like a butterfly trapped beneath glass.

When he returned to the bedroom, he came to my side of the bed and yanked the sheets off, my skin instantly pebbling in the cold.

“No hiding,” he said.

“I’m not hiding.” Yet I searched for something else to cover up with. Just because we’d slept together didn’t mean I was comfortable being naked around him.

He gently pulled me up onto my knees facing him, my bare skin pressed against his. Then he kissed me. Oh, God, how he kissed me. His mouth on mine made me bold, fearless, and hungry. It was passionate. It said that the fire between us hadn’t dwindled—it was building into more.

Abruptly, he pushed me down on the bed with firm hands.

I gaped up at him. “What was that for?”
