One more look down the drive before he walked toward one of the barns.

He’d find something to keep his mind off things, and there was always something to get done on the ranch.

Chapter Fifteen

Hanna kept glancingout of her rearview mirror. She thought she was doing the right thing by going by herself, but she didn’t think that it would hurt so much.

At the end of the driveway, she was tempted to turn around and return to him.Every instinct was telling her to go back to him.

Why make them both miserable if she didn’t have to?How did she think this would strengthen their relationship? They had already wasted too many years being apart.

She continued to drive for a few miles until she stopped in the middle of the road.

She knew she would probably look pitiful, but she couldn’t be away from him for four or five days. She could wait until next week when he could go with her. They’d make a road trip out of it.

It felt like a weight was lifted off her chest after she made the decision. She turned around and headed back.

She couldn’t wait to see the look on his face. She knew he’d feel the same relief she did.

“Hey, Boss, you mightwant to look outside.”

Blake grunted, leaned the pitchfork against the wall, and walked outside. He thought he was seeing things for a second, then elation when he saw she had come back, and then worried about why.

He took off running in her direction and was at her door as she turned off the vehicle. He wrenched the door open.

“What’s wrong?Did something happen?”

He relaxed when she grinned at him.

“Call me a wimp, but I don’t want to leave you for days. We’ve already spent too much time apart.”

He smiled, reached over to release her seat belt, and then pulled her out and into his arms.He held her for the longest time, savoring the feeling of having her in his arms.

“I’m so glad you came back.It was physically painful to watch you drive away.I was going to follow, but the horses being delivered in two days need my approval and signature.”
