Nicolas’s head fell back in defeat. Ashmedai knew him too well. He wouldn’t leave without saying bye to his brother, and it would be rude to ditch without thanking Julian for having them.
“Would you like me to bite anyone who teases you?” Ashmedai offered, and Nicolas couldn’t tell if he was joking.
“No, I only want you biting me, thanks.”
Ashmedai rasped out a laugh and reached for the door. “Good answer.”
Halfway down the stairs, Nicolas dared to hope that no one would say anything. Half of them were still playing video games—though they’d switched to something with monsters and fantasy weapons—and the rest were scattered around the room, talking.
Julian turned to grin at him. “Hope you cleaned up after yourselves in there.”
Nicolas missed the bottom stair and staggered, his arms pinwheeling.
“You’ll have to be a lot quieter than that—or a lot farther away—if you don’t want demons overhearing,” Talon remarked lightly, popping a piece of popcorn into his mouth.
Nicolas scowled. “Can we not discuss this?”
“We wouldn’t have,” Julian promised, “but when money started changing hands, I had to ask why.”
“What?” he squeaked. “Money? Why?”
All heads turned toward Malachi and Storm. Malachi, atleast, had the good grace to look sheepish, though the shrug that followed dampened it. “I said ages ago that whoever wound up being the sin eater’s human would be, uh, on the kinky side, that’s all. So Storm bet me that you’d be no different than the rest of these guys.”
“I maintain that that’s notthatkinky,” Storm said.
“Nobody else here has gotten off in the bathroom within hearing range.”
Nicolas’s face burned, and Daniel looked like he wanted to strangle them all.
“That you know of,” Storm said, and Talon chuckled.
“Can we not talk about my brother’s sex life, please?” Daniel said, wrinkling his nose.
“Please,” Nicolas added.
“It’s not that kinky,” Isaac assured.
“You would know,” Talon quipped. “I know all about Shadrach’s little dungeon.”
“Shadrach has adungeon?” Alex said. “What’s in it?”
“Stuff,” Isaac said defensively.
Nicolas wanted to sink into the floor and disappear. The next best thing was when Ashmedai wrapped an arm around him and let him hide his face in the crook of his neck.
“How many of you,” Ashmedai said, “would say no if your demon met you in the bathroom?”
Nicolas turned his head to peek out. Most of them looked thoughtful. Isaac was smirking—Shadrach wasn’t here, since this was his shift time. Julian was giving Valac a very pointed look.
Finally, Julian said, “I think Malachi should have to give the money back.”
Storm looked gleeful, and Malachi barked out a protest. “What? No way!”
“I am confident that a handjob in the bathroom is not the kinkiest thing that’s been done by the people in this room,” Julian said. “So give it back.”
Luke nudged Malachi, who sighed dramatically and slapped the crisp hundred dollar bill back into Storm’s waiting hand. “Spoilsport,” he muttered, and Luke kissed his cheek.
“Wait, since we’re talking about sex in the bathroom, whose lube is that in the Rink showers?” Luke asked, folding his arms. “Somebody’s definitely been doing something in there.”
