Duncan, Jen, and Britney all drank. Aurora raised an eyebrow at Duncan.

“It was one time,” he said.

“Oh, I did it all the time,” Jen added.

“Same, like a hundred times.”

The phone now came to Aurora. “Never have I ever skipped school. And since I was the only one who couldn’t take part in that senior choir prank, you all better drink.” They all laughed and took a sip.

“That was so fun,” Jen remembered.

“What all did we put in Mr. Robinson’s yard? I remember plastic forks in the bushes.” Britney looked at the others.

“Plastic lawn gnomes all over the place.” Jen snorted.

“He was so confused,” Dave was laughing, too.

“We were so hard on him.” Mike took an extra drink.

“He’s still teaching, you know. He retires next year.” Jen grinned.

“Aw, we should visit!” Britney looked like she might cry.

“Sure, here are the kids you taught the longest, back to torture you one last time.” Duncan took the phone from Aurora as the laughter roared. “Okay guys, back to the game. Never have I ever fallen asleep in class.” Again, no one drank. He passed the phone back to Britney.

“Let’s see. Never have I ever been sent to the principal’s office.” No drinking. “Man, we were lame.”

Jen took the phone. “Maybe we just need to think up some of our own.” She slid her thumb across the phone to find something good. “Never have I ever … impersonated a teacher.” She looked pointedly at Duncan.

“I was helping Britney with that economics project!”

“So drink!” Jen passed the phone.

Aurora couldn’t remember the last time she had smiled or laughed this much.

“Never have I ever—wait, there’s no way that applies to anyone.”

“Just say it, Mike.” Britney encouraged him.

“Fine. Never have I ever given someone a blow job in the bathroom.”

Dave was the only one to drink.

Aurora couldn’t help it. Her jaw moved of its own accord. “DAVY!”

“I was still in the closet, okay?”

Mike was as shocked as Aurora. “Sure, but I’m terrible for making out with someone in the stairwell? That is so much worse. Now you have to tell us who.”

“I can’t.”

“Aurora and I both said who we kissed! It’s only fair.”

Dave swallowed hard. “I, uh … I can’t remember his name.”

Aurora snorted at his lame answer and put a hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter. An idea popped into her head for her turn.

“Okay, I see how it is. Fine, Dave, be that way,” Mike joked. “Here’s the phone.”
