“He went for a drive. We sort of had a fight.” He’d been gone for hours and I’d spent most of it on the phone while I finished cooking. I didn’t know when he’d be back. The longer he was gone, the more desperate I was to talk to him.

She tutted. “Rock Daddy was warned not to fuck with you. Shall I retrieve the pliers from my car?”

I sighed. “I think this one might’ve been my fault. He figured out why I ended things before.”

She winced.

From the top of the stairs, Elena squealed, “I knew I heard a familiar voice!”

Within seconds, the three of us were hugging, reminding me of the days we used to share a dressing room at the dungeon.

Ophelia said, “Did you know she’s fucking Alex’s hot-as-sin little brother?”

Even Elena’s smile was regal. “Yeah, I got that impression. If he’s into what I think he’s into, you’re a lucky bitch…”

Ophelia stomped her foot. “I knew it! Why does everyone else snatch up all the good dick?”

“Like you don’t get plenty of good dick?” Elena said pointedly.

Kelly chose that exact moment to walk in the front door. “Someone order some good dick?”

I smiled even though I still felt like a piece of shit.

Ophelia whipped around. “I mean…if you’re offering.”

Kelly’s eyes flicked to me, missing nothing. “You okay, sugar?”

I nodded, sinking into a reassuring hug I probably didn’t deserve.

Ophelia gasped. “Both of them?? Ma’am. You’re a greedy slut.”

Kelly set his bag down. “Hey, I’m just a guest star. There’s enough of me to go around. Thanks for packing that bag by the way.”

I smacked a hand over my face.

Ophelia’s grin was gleeful. “I was teasing! You really fucked both of them?? At the same time?”

Dan had just walked in the front door and stood there blushing as he looked between Kelly and me.

“Why do none of you people lock the damn door?!” I screeched, laughing so hard I could barely breathe. This felt like family and I ached for it almost as much as I did for a life with Zane. Was I going to let fear stop me from having it?

Dan greeted everyone, but when he reached Ophelia, he said, “No. Absolutely not. She has to go.”

Ophelia cackled. “She’sstanding right here. You’re really still holding a grudge?”

“Do yourememberwhat happened last time?”

Ophelia shrugged one of the shoulders of her sweater off, revealing a tattoo that said, “Dan” with hearts around it.

Her expression was triumphant. “Darling, how could I forget?”

He rubbed his temples with his eyes closed.

“You’re not going to show them yours?” Ophelia purred.

Dan cracked a smile. “Do you know how bad it hurt to get it removed?”

Ophelia gasped. “You didn’t!”
