"That was really damn good, Butterfly," I coo into her ear and kiss her shoulder. "Food first, then maybe I'll put on a show for you too."

Perking up, Vivian leans back and looks me in the eye. Hers are wide and hopeful, making me grin. "Promise?"

"Promise, only if you tell me what you guessed our conversation was by the grill." I kiss the tip of her nose, hoping to encourage her to talk to me. I know she got a little nervous about the dance, but I'm hoping she won't get stuck in her head over it.

Sighing, she tells me what was on her mind. "I thought you were talking about Silas. His all black outfit and warm lighting reminded me of all the nights he spent out on the football field at university. Plus he's a little scruffy and dirty today."

"Only because I was prepping the flower beds for you, mate," he adds with a touch of sass and a ton of love.

"Yes, Beta," Vivie soothes, smiling and batting her lashes at Silas.

Kade breaks it up by placing a tray of burgers on the big patio table. "Alright, my loves, let’s eat before another shirt gets thrown too close to thefirepit."

Gasping, Vivian looks past Silas on the other side of the table and finds her shirt within two feet of the gas flames. "Oops." She cringes.

Kade grabs her chin with his thumb and pointer finger. With her doe eyes locked on his, he kisses her sweetly. Then rumbles, "That was hot as hell, Omega."

Vivian beams and tucks into her burger while still sitting happily on my lap. All I can think about, even with a raging boner and her slick pussy inches away, is how fucking happy I am.

I love our life together.

My brain power is a little slow today. Even with the blueprints and detailed ideas a client gave me, I'm struggling to find suitable places in his home to add a few more nests.

My mates remodeled a pack home last year, but the omega has kept in contact with me. Max likes to text me and check in at least once a week. Jarek and the other two try to encourage me to hang out with the other omega, but I just think Max pities me.

He has his own uniqueness that increases his ability to empathize with my struggles. That's all. Plus, I suppose we worked together a lot during the remodel to get his bedroom and nestperfect. Max really is a sweet guy, and I can see myself being friends with him if I weren't so high maintenance.

Honestly, just the fact that he feels the need to check in on me so frequently is enough to make me feel bad. Sometimes it's subtle things like asking me what I had for dinner, then he follows it up by sharing what he had to soften the blow.

It's possible I have some fucked up faulty thinking, but either way, it's been a year and I haven't seen him in person since. Not sure why he keeps talking to me but it’s...nice.

When Max texted me yesterday, he asked what I was doing. I told him I was reading in my window nest and I about threw up when my phone lit up with a request to video call.

Kade demanded I answer the call—lowkey barked. I could have told him no, but I was curious about why Max would step up our communication. So with a scowl at my alpha I hit accept.

I was a little bummed when I realized Max called me solely to ask about my multiple nests. Later I felt silly after he hired me to configure where he might have suitable space in his home for extra nests too. We aren't friends. He pities someone who works for him is all.

Huffing, I flip through the printed sheets of his mood board he sent over. My issue with designing multiple spaces for him is he likes them to be small and boxed in.

"How's it going, little Omega?" Kade plops himself down on the blanket beside me. The midday sun warms me and the trees around our property keep the wind mild.

Not wanting to talk through my frustrations, I point my pen at the one solution I've found. If Max has his alphas pull the couch off the wall and out of the corner, he can use that space for a living room nest.

"I like it. They could put some of the fabric wall panels in it to make it feel softer and more secure for Max. The loft above also has the storage room he could convert into another nest if his pack was willing to reorganize."

Nodding rapidly, I write that down. I didn't think about converting any spaces already in use, but I know Max's pack loves him endlessly. Moving some boxes around and extra winter clothes is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Especially if it makes their omega happy and secure.

As I work, I think about other angles that I hadn't before. I'm starting to wonder if we should offer to include multiple smaller nests in our remodel packages. Definitely something to bring upwith the guys since they run the business. I'm just a random creative eye when requested.

For a while, Kade and I sit in silence as I continue to ponder more options. His eyes move from me to Jarek and Silas who have been tossing a football around for almost an hour now.

Maybe part of my problem is their sweaty, athletic bodies running around in front of me having fun. My pussy has clenched a few times, especially when they tackle each other.

I'm moments away from giving up on my task for the day when Kade chuckles. Glancing at my alpha, I bask in the way his smile lights up his usually hard eyes. He's so serious and wound tight all the time. He should be playing.
