“Me too. Once we have some stability in our schedule with this one, we can get all my stuff over here,” I tell him. I can’t imagine living without him now.

“And finding a bigger place? Eventually, I’d like to give Charlie some siblings.” His salacious grin makes me laugh, bouncing poor Charlie on my chest.

“I just pushed her out, jeez. Give me a few months.” I laugh. “Although, finding a bigger place sounds like a good idea.”

His laughter devolves into a sigh. “I love you both so much. I know our relationship has been a whirlwind, but I can’t imagine my life without you two.”

“Same.” These damn hormones make my eyes leak every hour, I swear.

My heart hasn’t been this full since Charlie died. Hell, I’m not sure it’s ever been this full. Adam gave me something I wasn’t sure I would ever want or get, and now I can’t imagine our life any other way.

I fall asleep that night to the sound of Adam singing a lullaby to Charlie in the rocking chair we have in our room.

Three days later, his co-workers empty out my apartment and move all of my stuff into Adam’s apartment.

Chapter 38

Adam

Four months later …

It’s my first official day back in the office, and although I’ve worked from home a little bit, leaving my ladies was the absolute worst. I’ve never had an issue going to work before, but leaving them both asleep in bed was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

“The big papa returns!” Juliette says once I step onto our floor.

“Big papa!” everyone else yells.

“Please do not call me that.” I groan.

“Glad to have you back.” Woodcroft cuffs my back.

“Good to be back.” I hope they don’t hear the lie.

“You’d rather be back home with Claire and Charlie,” Stone says with a smile.

“I would.” I chuckle. “I absolutely would.”

“Well, sorry to rain on that parade, but we’ve got a breakthrough,” Woodcroft says. “Conference room in five.”

We all head that way, bringing our laptops and notepads, waiting for our boss to fill us in.

“So, Hunter Page was a dead end until Sin randomly threw in a threat to call the FBI.”

“We’re still interrogating him?” I ask.

“More like having regular conversations,” Sin says.

“What’s the deal with the FBI?” Juliette asks.

“That’s the thing. He panicked and told us he’d tell us everything about Lorentz and the setup they have,” Woodcroft says.

“Holy shit,” Stone murmurs.

“What?” I ask.

“The FBI, or someone in the FBI, is involved,” Lex says.

“And it just so happens that my boss is bringing in the FBI to help us with the investigation because we’re at a ‘standstill’.”
