“Oh, no, no, no,” I grinned, shooing her back out of the kitchen as I got my secret weapon piled up on a platter. “This is.”

I carried out a tray with a crock of melted chocolate surrounded by sliced strawberries, banana chunks, pieces of pound cake, marshmallows, and pretzels.

“Holy shit,” she whispered. “Are you trying to seduce me?”

I raised an eyebrow at her as I took the seat next to her instead of across from her. “Is it working?”

She leaned back in her chair, eyes roaming over me slowly. “It has been since the moment you opened your front door.”

I grinned like a schoolgirl but bit my lip to keep from asking her to make a move if I was doing that good a job. I’d be patient. Hopefully.

We dipped fruit and treats in silence for a moment, the flicker of candlelight doing very little to mask the way she waswatchingme. Focused. Calm. But underneath it, something hotter brewed.

“Okay,” she said suddenly, grabbing a marshmallow. “New rule. With every bite, you answer a question.”

I blinked. “What, like fondue confessions?”

“Exactly,” she smirked. “Twenty Questions. But of thegrown-upkind.”

My breath quickened, my pulse rising. “You start.”

She dipped a piece of banana and then popped it into her mouth. “Have you ever been with a woman before?”

Heat rose to my cheeks. “Yes. Though it’s been a while.”

“How long?”

I grinned, “A few years. Because it felt like something was missing, though maybe the problem was with me.”

She leaned in, her voice low. “And now? Do you think something’s missing?”

“Not at the moment.” I admitted. “Not like that.”

Her eyes darkened, just a little. “Your turn.”

I stabbed a piece of cake and dragged it through the chocolate. “Have you been with men?”

She raised an eyebrow and smirked. “Yes, but not for a few years.”

“Which do you prefer?” I asked, jumping the line, and she gave me a pointed look, but let me have my way.

“I typically prefer a woman’s touch over men, but pleasure is pleasure.” I swallowed, and she went on. “First female crush?”

I laughed, “Lucy Liu. Charlie’s Angels.”

Her brows rose to her hairline before a wicked look filled her eyes. “That tracks. Sexy. Sharp. Domme vibes.”

I snorted, “You see some similarities there?”

“Oh, I see a lot of things.” She riddled and then dipped again, taking a second turn. “Craziest place you’ve fantasized about hooking up?”

I almost choked on my strawberry. “Jesus.”

“That’s a strange place.” She snorted and then held me with her gaze. “Answer my question.”

I licked the chocolate off my lips. “Walk-in freezer at the bakery.”

Her lips parted. “Cold kink?”
