When Val releases a grunt that’s almost a whimper, my grip tightens on the laptop.Focus.

I drag my eyes back to the screen, and there it is.

Five-Year Plan (Master Copy)

Colour-coded, detailed, everything meticulously planned. I scroll through, skimming my expansion goals, predicted profits, brand partnerships, international conventions.

I glance over the convention list again.

Paris. Milan. Tokyo.

My fingers hover in thought, then I add a new column, type, copy, paste, and save.

Five years suddenly doesn’t look like something I’m building alone anymore. And for the first time, I don’t feel weaker for that.

I shift back in my chair, exhaling slowly, then open my emails, smiling.

“What’s that look for?” Luc smirks, walking out from the gym, topless, a sheen of sweat glazing his tanned skin and hard muscles.

“Nothing.” I shrug, but my heart races. “Just making some changes.”

Sylvan has made some excellent choices since Revea has been living with us. One is deciding that every room needs to be amended for her. Which is why every workout ends up with us back in the nest.

Because even though Revea tries to pretend she isn’t watching us, we know she is. Her cheeks are always more flushed, and it’s so much easier to convince her to stop working when we’re in workout clothes or shirtless. Which is currently Luc’s tactic.

When all our watches vibrate, I ignore it. I’m spotting Val, and after this set, we’ll be done. Which means it’ll be time to persuade Revea—

There’s a squeal. Val immediately pushes up and locks the weight in place, both of us seeking out Revea.

She’s over Luc’s shoulder.

“That’s it,” he murmurs, dropping Revea’s laptop onto the chair and walking back inside with her. “To the nest.”

“Luc!” she screams. “I haven’t finished yet! And you’re all sweaty!”

“We’re about to be a whole lot sweatier, hermosa.” Then he turns to us with a grin. “Check that email.” And leaves with Revea still kicking.

I frown, pulling out my phone—
