“Oh,” she says softly, then turns a little so she can see me. “But I like it when you bite me?”

Kaiden blows out a long breath while I stare at Revea.

“Revea,” Kaiden murmurs, running his fingers over her arm until she looks back at him. “He means a bonding bite.”

I drop my head to her shoulder blades.

She won’t want me for her heat now.

That’s it.

I can’t be trusted.

“I’m sorry,” I whisper over her skin, trying to apologise with my lips.

“Hey, it’s okay.” She turns again, and I realise my knot has already loosened, probably from the guilt.

The dread.

I’ve ruined her heat before it even began.

“I’m really sorry, Revea,” I say again.

I can’t look at her, even with her fingers over my cheek.

“Aren’t there like… things to stop that?” she asks, so soft, her touch so soothing. “We’ll get them for my heat.”

“You… you still want me for your heat?” When I look up, her brows are furrowed.

“Of course I do!” Her eyes dart between mine, wide with confusion.

“But what if—”

“You called for me, Sylvan,” Kaiden cuts in, gaze stern. “That’s why packs have pack alphas.”

My mouth parts, ready to argue, but her fingertip lands on my canine. “I guess you mustreallylike me to try and bite me, Sylvan,” she teases.

I know she’s teasing. It’s in the tone of her voice, the way her lips curl, how her eyes glimmer.

But my brain can’t help but say the words, “I love you.”

Her brows dart up, her touch stills.

Then I add, “I think.”

She bursts out laughing, and the sound eases all the tension in my body. “Youthink?” she repeats.

“Well, how do people know?” I look at Kaiden. “How do Luciano and Valentin know?”

Revea’s nose scrunches. “Val?”

“Sylvan…”Kaiden growls.

“Oh.” I peer down at Revea. “I thought you knew about Val. Sorry.”

“What the fuck is going on up there? The bond is spiking like mad,”Luc snaps.

“I just told Revea I think I love her, then that Valentin does. Sorry.”
