My fingers curl against my knees as she stops between them. Close enough that I have to tilt my head back a little to meet her gaze.

I force my spine straight. Think back to my time in the military.

Discipline. Structure. Control.

“Alright, Sergeant Heat.” A smile stretches along her perfect, swollen lips. “What are your orders?”

Sergeant. Orders.

My jaw tightens. I close my eyes. Need to stop looking at her.

When I hear her little giggle, I immediately hold out Kaiden’s hoodie, hoping she’ll take it.

She sighs, then murmurs, “Thank you, alpha.”

She clearly isn’t sated. She’s trying to provoke me. And I want to be provoked. Badly.

But we need to get this done.

I open one eye at a time to find her still smiling down at me, still between my legs. But the hoodie is on, and she’s tying her hair up into something like Kaiden sometimes wears. Then she reaches for something on the side table and puts on…

Her glasses.

I am doomed.

Instantly sucked back to the first time I saw her like this. In baggy clothes, hair messy, those fucking glasses. I never even knew I liked women in glasses.

I guess I don’t. It’s just Revea.

And she knows. That smile slips into a smug smirk as she slides onto the sofa beside me, looping her arms around one of mine that’s completely tense and unmoving.

I should call for Kaiden. I—

Her bare legs flash in a tease of smooth skin as she places them over my lap, her shin brushing against my hard cock. I bite my tongue, staring at the phone in my hand, at the website.

Right. Nesting preparation.

I hold my phone out to her but don’t turn. I stay focused on the room in front of me, the wooden floor, anything but her.

“Go through, pick whatever you like,” I say through gritted teeth.

“Yes, sir.”

Fuck me.

She takes my phone, sinking back into the sofa, her legs nudging my knot.

I stay sat, like a statue, like a soldier at attention. I’ve done that for hours before. Stood in the cold and rain, waiting to be released.

Why does this feel harder?

“Wow, there’s…” She pauses. My eyes snap to her. “There’s a lot of choice.”

The hesitancy in her voice is all it takes to break me.

I grab her waist, pulling her onto my lap, then position my phone in front of us.

“I’ll help,” I murmur against her hair, kissing her cheek. “What do you normally have in your nest?”
