“What are you implying, Nastya?”

“My little sister, Tatiana, was yours, wasn’t she?”

He inhaled deeply. “Your sister and your mother are dead. We honor the dead, not speak ill of

them.”

My heart squeezed at the confirmation. “Did you help Tino Bellomo kill my father, and supposedly

me?”

He arched a brow. “What do you know of the Bellomos?”

More than he’d ever know. “Did he tell you where I am?”

“No. I was looking for you myself since you’ve been spotted in Kentucky. When my men found an

abandoned car a few miles from Ohio, they took it and tore it apart. Your DNA was all over it. It

didn’t take long to put two and two together and realize those nasty bounty hunters must have you.” He shifted a little to stare at me. “How does Tino Bellomo know where you are?”

That was what he cared about, my connection to a Mafia boss? Not how I’d been living for the

past six years? How I got the bruises and the split lip or how I’d injured my hand? How I ended up

with a motorcycle club?

When Jesse was telling him about the bounty on my head, he said he knew nothing of it. How could

that be true if he’d been busy looking for me and knew what the Wicked Warriors did for a living?

Even if he didn’t know, he didn’t bother to ask Jesse who wanted to kill me. Shouldn’t he be eager to know to eliminate the threat?

Unlesshewas the threat.

My heart thudded, and my stomach tied in a knot. Jesse must have reached the same conclusion.

“What’s going to happen to Jesse?”

“You shouldn’t be thinking about that man. A girl like you cannot be with someone like him.”

“Fine, but you have to you let him and his men go.”

He chuckled. “You love him that much?”

Yes.“Promise me, Uncle. I’ll do anything you want. I’m sure you can find a good use for me like Father did.”

He grunted. “You’re a clever girl, Nastya. I’ve always admired that about you.”

The car took a sudden turn before we even reached Indiana borders. “Where are we going?”

He didn’t answer, and the car kept going until we were far from the road, the SUV in our tail. Then

both vehicles stopped, and my heart skipped a beat. “Uncle, please. Don’t hurt them.”

“You should beg for your life, not theirs, Nastya.” He touched my chin and smiled sadly. “But even

that won’t work. I’m afraid you’re only useful to me when you’re dead.”
