“You heard me, Prez. The Russians are in town. It could be the Romanovs themselves, looking for

their girl again.”

“Or whoever the fuck wants her dead.”

“You think it’s an inside job?”

“It’s the fucking Mob. It’s always an inside job.” I rand both hands through my hair, swearing.

“And now that they have the fucking car, it’s only a matter of time before they know she’s alive.”

“And tie her back to us,” Cottonmouth said. “There was nothing open in range last night but the

Wicked Ass, and we’re the only known bounty hunters in Newport. They’ll know for sure we have

I protested. How was going back home the solution to our predicament? I set one foot in the city, and the word would spread like fire. Besides, Leo could be there, too.

“You’ll be safe with me. I won’t let anything hurt you.” Jesse—he’d told me his cute real name,

The way I saw it we had two options. We went to Chicago voluntarily to get to the bottom of it

with the help of his friends in the Chicago chapter and maybe Tino Bellomo’s. After all his men were

the ones who saved me the night I was shot.

Even though he didn’t mind Leo helping me escape, Tino Bellomo didn’t like the fact that we were

in love because of the Mafia princess Leo was supposed to marry. He was smart, though, not fighting

it. He knew his son better than anyone, and when I thought about it now, I bet he always knew my

story with Leo would end up in blood. That was why he always kept an eye on us when Leo wouldn’t

even have a bodyguard.

Bellomo’s men found me and took me to one of their clinics that didn’t ask questions, where they
